Job description

Position: Material Handler

• Move required material to a designated location within the yard using an overhead crane or forklift.
• Load joist, deck, and other materials onto trailers for shipping.
• Complete daily pre-use inspections of crane and other material handling equipment.
• Follow and demonstrate proper rigging and chaining procedures/techniques for placement on or off trailers.
• Maintain control of the load at all times.
• Adjust loads in place with a pry bar.
• Promptly report any maintenance concerns.
• Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment is worn at all times.
• Practice good housekeeping, including 5S requirements, and manage time effectively in daily duties.
• Comply with all legislated and company health, safety, environmental, quality, and Lean policies, procedures, and programs.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The position requires the ability to:

• Climb steps onto trailers.
• Shunt trucks as required.
• Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions daily.
• Continuously flip/stack materials.
• Routinely lift up to 50 lbs.
