About The Role

The Manufacturing I, Material Handler is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of materials to and from the production cells and warehouse. Responsibilities include filling out injection moulding hoppers, picking and placing material orders, performing daily cycle counts, ensuring Kan Bans are in place, and assisting assembly operators and Automation Technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and ensure assembly cells are properly stocked with materials required for their build.
  • Prepare, pull, and kit material for upcoming work orders.
  • Effectively calculate percentages and ratios (fractions).
  • Follow instructions to mix and ensure the proper percentage of colourant and/or additive is added to resin mixes.
  • Prevent contamination by properly covering barrels, colour feeders, and gaylords.
  • Follow WHMIS label guidelines to identify materials and label part boxes accordingly.
  • Clean loader, colour feeder, hoses, and attachments before running material to the machine.
  • Weigh scrap/waste and report it.
  • Maintain material dryers regularly.
  • Return unused components to designated warehouse areas.
  • Ensure safe palletizing/stacking of cases before moving products.
  • Follow FIFO (First In First Out) for materials, especially during storage.
  • Complete Material Handler Work Order documentation accurately.
  • Validate packaging contents and counts.
  • Perform cycle counts as scheduled and as needed.
  • Report potential part shortages or issues to supervisors.
  • Participate in health and safety, quality, and Lean initiatives.
  • Adhere to SCJP policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
  • Support month-end inventory processes and counts.
  • Inspect and store incoming materials properly.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Experience
  • Grade 12 or equivalent education combined with related work experience.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Experience as a machine operator preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations.
  • Flexible, with strong interpersonal skills for diverse environments.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Professional and tactful interpersonal skills.
Job Requirements
  • Work weeks are Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, with flexibility for shifts as needed.
  • Entitled to two 10-minute breaks and one 20-minute lunch.
  • Overtime may be required with paid compensation.
