Job summary

O.E.M. Remanufacturing Company Inc. is seeking a Material Handler to manage major material movements in the General Salvage area and ensure safe, properly recorded moves in the warehouse management system.

The role involves transporting materials, picking and stocking orders, loading/unloading, packing/unpacking, and maintaining a tidy, safe workspace. Unionized employment under a collective agreement, with a 5:30pm–5:30am, four-on/three-off weekend night schedule, starting at approximately

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months working in Wage Grade 1 or higher
• Reach Truck, Narrow aisle, and Picker Truck experience preferred
• Must be able to prioritize multiple demands and manage time effectively
• Must communicate written and spoken English clearly
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work well in a team with minimal supervision
• Able to lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds
• Familiar with computer/tablet use; basic MS Office skills preferred
• Preference for candidates with accredited reach truck / forklift certification
• Must be fit tested and able to wear a respirator
• Commit to safe work practices and follow company policies

Position Overview:

As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for all major material movements within the General Salvage area. You will ensure all moves are made in a safe manner and are properly recorded/input into the warehouse management systems.

Job Description:

• Transport and distribute materials and goods within the facility
• Pick and stock orders
• Load, unload, and move products and materials by hand or with basic material handling equipment
• Pack and unpack goods
• Install, lash, and secure goods
• Maintain shop cleanliness and safety
• Some computer and administrative duties to support the department

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 6 months working in Wage Grade 1 or higher
• Reach Truck, Narrow aisle, and Picker Truck experience is preferred
• Must be able to prioritize numerous demands and possess good time management skills
• Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment with minimum supervision
• Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds
• Familiar with computer/tablet use; basic understanding of Microsoft suite is preferred
• Preference will be given to candidates with accredited reach truck/forklift certification
• A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
• Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner and comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures

Note:

This posting is for a static weekend night shift scheduled 4 days on 3 days off, followed by 3 days on 4 days off, Thursday to Sunday, followed by Friday to Sunday. The shift will be 5:30pm - 5:30am.

The successful candidate may be required to complete training during a Mon - Thurs / Fri weekday shift and will move to weekends once they have sufficient experience

Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement

Hourly Rate: $25.46 - 36.07 / Hour

Union Membership: This is a unionized position. Terms of employment are governed by a collective agreement.
