The Material Handler performs inventory control activities to support the electronics manufacturing process, contributing to operational efficiency, product quality, and customer satisfaction. Their main tasks include kitting materials for production orders, handling and stocking inventory to Creation and electronics industry standards, and precisely recording movement of inventory in the electronic inventory control systems. Successful Material Handlers have a high attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and basic computer navigation skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:

  1. Maintain inventory organization & cycle count by location, count, and status
  2. Transact material in ERP system to match physical movement of parts
  3. Accurately pick, count, label, and transact parts for production operations according to pick lists and ad hoc requests
  4. Expedite materials and transactions to support manufacturing operations
  5. Maintain and deliver in-process inventory to point-of-use work stations
  6. Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors
  7. Utilize reel counters and scales to accurately count inventory
  8. Load and unload trucks, boxes, containers, and carts
  9. Use a variety of packaging and handling methods to protect the materials from damage including electrostatic discharge prevention and moisture sensitive parts
  10. Store and organize parts considering material handling guidance including FIFO, locator organization, weight, etc.
  11. Enter cycle counts in ERP system
  12. Process inventory adjustments while following approval hierarchy
  13. Bake parts following part specifications
  14. Select the correct pocket and tape for tape and reel packaging
  15. Follow specifications for orientation of parts in trays and on tape and reel
  16. Maintain safety and 5S workplace organization standards
  17. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  1. High School diploma, GED, or equivalency
  2. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  3. Basic computer navigation skills, including email applications
  4. Proficient English business communications skills, both written and verbal
  5. Ability to work closely with others and have good communication skills
  6. Must have attention to detail
  7. Excellent organization skills
  8. Be flexible, adaptable, able and willing to modify activities and direction with a dynamic business environment
  9. Able to efficiently work in a high-volume, fast-paced, team environment

Preferred

  1. Ability to download, view, and edit Excel documents
  2. Ability to work flexible schedules
  3. Use of manual and/or powered material handling equipment (i.e., forklift)
  4. Experience handling electronic components
  5. Ability to safely lift items up to 40 pounds, able to safely maneuver around archived materials

What you need to know:

  • You need to be legally eligible to work in British Columbia, Canada as a full-time employee
  • This is a fixed term full-time position, 6 months to start
  • Available shift: Day (Monday to Friday, 7AM-3:30PM)
  • Wage: $19.50 per hour
  • Work location: 8999 Fraserton Court, Burnaby, BC V5J 5H8
