Job summary

Scarborough Health Network is seeking a part-time Material Handler for the Centenary Site storeroom. You will store, pick, and distribute medical/surgical supplies to ensure accurate inventory and timely patient care.

You will work days, evenings, nights and weekends as scheduled, applying lean principles, maintaining safety, and using computer systems to track stock. A strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Secondary school graduate or equivalent.
• Good command of the English language (both verbal and written).
• Knowledge of medical/surgical supplies and inventory control.
• Recent related warehousing or distribution experience.
• Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
• Experience with computer systems and inventory processes.
• Commitment to safety programs and SHN policies.

Job Description:

Position Overview:

The Material Handler is responsible for the storage, retrieval, distribution of medical/surgical supplies, inventory, picking and order-filling of goods, other duties as assigned. Hours of work are days, evenings, nights and weekends as scheduled.

Requirements:

• Secondary school graduate or equivalent
• Good command of the English language (both verbal and written)
• Knowledge of medical/surgical supplies and inventory control
• Recent related work experience in warehousing or distribution environment
• Computer experience
• Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills promoting good customer service
• Proven organizational skills with an ability to work accurately with detail in a fast-paced environment
• Evidence of positive team based skills
• Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients
• Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
• Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public
• Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
• Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards

Physical Demands:

• Constant walking, climbing
• Reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting (20 - 30 kg.)
