Job Overview

The Material Handler is responsible for executing physical operations to streamline product flow. This role applies principles of lean management, adheres to quality standards, and follows safety protocols. Responsibilities include assembling, loading, storing, documenting, and distributing inventory in designated areas.

A Day In The Life
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and pushcarts to transport goods and supplies.
  • Reorganize or repack products to meet specific order requirements.
  • Conduct inspections of trailers and their contents to ensure compliance with safety and loading standards.
  • Read and interpret production work orders or blueprints to assemble products accordingly.
  • Manage and document inventory, maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the production area.
  • Support production and shipping departments by moving and repositioning products.
  • Perform daily inspections of forklifts.
  • Manage inventory of bulk materials and pallets.
  • Dispose of trash and pallets in designated dumpsters.
  • Separate and dispose of scrap materials like wood and cardboard in appropriate containers.
  • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or safety issues to the Supervisor and maintenance team.
  • Report safety concerns, hazards, accidents, or incidents to management and the safety committee.
