EMCO Corporation is seeking a Material Handler to join our Saskatoon facility. You will pick, pack, and ship customer orders, count and verify incoming material, and handle returns with attention to detail.

Responsibilities include operating a forklift, loading docks, and assisting customers at the counter while maintaining a clean, safe warehouse. Strong communication and reliability are essential in this role.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; higher education is an asset.
  • At least 1 year warehouse experience.
  • Excellent customer service and verbal communication.
  • Ability to safely operate forklift and material handling equipment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to learn order processing software.
  • Intermediate math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Follow health and safety rules and legislation while performing job functions.
  • Load and unload trucks, operate forklift and other material handling equipment.
  • Receiving duties: verify material, note discrepancies or damaged material; document in system.
  • Picking, packing, and shipping: count against shipping documents and prepare for delivery.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and safety by removing debris and organizing space.
  • Assist customers at the counter and support sales teammates with product packaging requests.

Job Description

As a Material Handler you will be responsible for picking, packing, and shipping customer orders as well as counting, verifying, receiving, and putting away incoming vendor material and customer returns. An attention to detail will ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.

  • Know how to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment
  • Be courteous, friendly and build relationships with customers and vendors
Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Follow all Health and Safety rules and legislation while performing job functions
  • Load and unload trucks, operate forklift and other material handling equipment
  • Receiving duties include:
    • Upon unloading vendor shipments or customer returns, obtain the packing slip and verify material received. Note any discrepancies or damaged material
    • Print and verify the computer receiving documents and enter material received into the computer system
    • Identify special order material and damaged material and store in proper location
    • Note all shipping discrepancies on freight carrier’s Bill of Lading, initiate freight claims and forward paperwork to appropriate teammate
  • Picking, packing, and shipping duties include:
    • Pick material for customer orders, counting and comparing items to the shipping documentation
    • Assemble material and pack appropriately for pick up or shipment to customer
    • Complete documentation for any shipments being delivered via third party carrier or requiring Transportation of Dangerous Goods documentation
    • Inform the Supervisor of any inventory discrepancies and damaged/defective material that would impact customer service levels
    • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and safety by removing empty cartons, metal banding, pallets, and other debris
    • Inform Warehouse Supervisor and/or Profit Centre Manager of any safety issues within the warehouse
    • Assist teammates in servicing customers at the counter
    • Assist sales teammates in completing any customer requests about product packaging
    • Perform other tasks as requested by the Profit Centre Manager
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; College and/or University degree an asset
  • A minimum of 1 year of warehouse experience
  • Outstanding customer service and verbal communication skills
  • Able to develop comprehensive product knowledge
  • Ability to learn to safely operate a forklift and any other material handling equipment
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail
  • Able to learn and operate the applicable software system used to process orders
  • Intermediate math skills
Preferred Skills
  • Previous experience with or knowledge of products sold at the Profit Centre
  • Experience using M3, Word, Excel, and Outlook

Salary Range - 35-40K
