Job summary

ATCO Electric in Peace River, AB is seeking a Material Handler for a 12-month assignment in our warehouse operations. You will perform receiving, shipping, inventory control, and cycle counts, while maintaining safe and organized facilities.

Role requires high school diploma, forklift certification, and 1 year warehousing experience; proficiency with MS Word/Excel and a valid driver's license is preferred. On-site work with cross-functional teams across yard and office.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Willingness and ability to complete courses in general warehousing and logistics certification.
  • Must obtain ATCO Electric forklift operator certification.
  • Must obtain certification in standard First Aid, TDG and WHMIS.
  • Minimum 1 year of related warehousing experience.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Valid vehicle operator’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving goods and materials that have been procured for current or future use.
  • Shipping goods and materials from the warehouse to other locations or on-site.
  • Sorting salvage material for disposal or sale and preparing returns of surplus goods or materials to suppliers.
  • Maintaining the warehouse, yard and associated buildings in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Filling and preparing orders for materials ordered for work orders.
  • Performing cycle counts on a weekly/monthly or annual basis to ensure stock levels are kept at an economic operating level.
  • Operating and conducting pre-shift on the material handling equipment (forklifts).
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through issuing and returning stock.
  • Provide support to customers requesting materials and/or services at the warehouse counter.
  • Work in a combination of office, warehouse and warehouse yard environments.

About the Role:

The Material Handler performs basic material handling activities within clearly defined procedures and standards that are required for the operation of the warehouse.
