Responsibilities:
- Actively participating in the shipping and receiving operations duties such as:
- Loading and unloading trucks
- Checking for overages, damages and shortages
- Order picking and repackaging returned materials
- Operating a heavy-duty counterbalance forklift to pick orders and prepare outgoing shipments
- Counting and servicing parts to a defined quality, productivity, and rental criteria standards
- Removing, repairing, and replacing basic components using a variety of hand and power tools:
- Hand tools may include hammers, chisels, screw drivers, spanners and pliers
- Power hand tools may include drills, saws, grinders, routers, and rivet guns
Core Functions
- Safely operating a heavy-duty counterbalance forklift outdoors, over uneven terrain to move material and pick orders when required
- Consistently executing pedestrian safety while operating machinery
- Differentiating parts and components between colours, shapes and sizes
- Manual material handling of both large and small formwork and scaffolding components
- Accurately logging service work records
- Actively participating in cycle counts and inventory control processes
- Maintaining an exceptional attendance record with consistent emphasis on punctuality
- Participating in all group health and safety meetings
- Demonstrating a strong commitment to safety
- Complying with all PERI policies and procedures, and provincial health and safety standards, at all times
- Use protective personal equipment when required
- Report hazards and accidents
- Take care of your health and safety and that of the others
- Other related duties as assigned
What you'll need to be successful:
Education & Qualifications:
- Must have a valid forklift license from a recognized and accredited Canadian training program or school
- Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in the safe operation of a counterbalance forklift
- Previous experience working in an outdoor environment with a variety of hand and power tools preferred
- Previous experience organizing material in an outdoor environment is preferred
- Experience operating a diesel-powered counterbalance forklift with capacities up to 15,000 pounds/ 7,000 kilograms is preferred
- Ability to handle both large and small parts for material preparation and movement
- Ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and the ability to count parts manually
- Ability to differentiate between colours, shapes and sizes
- Dedication to promoting and maintaining the highest standard of workplace health and safety
- Comply with the mandatory respiratory protection program, where required
