Qualifications

  • ERP/MRP proficiency (Epicor, Plex) and planning tools

  • Strong communication and interpersonal collaboration across departments
  • Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma knowledge advantageous
  • Leadership and people-management experience
  • APICS CPIM or PMP certification advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a master production schedule aligned with customer orders, forecasts and inventory
  • Prioritize jobs by delivery dates, capacity, tooling status, and resource availability
  • Translate forecasts and demand into actionable production plans
  • Conduct capacity analysis to identify bottlenecks and balance workload across machines
  • Coordinate tooling, fixtures and materials with Eng/Manufacturing
  • Collaborate with Procurement to ensure materials are sourced per schedule
  • Develop detailed machine/operator schedules considering setup times and lead times
  • Sequence jobs to optimize utilization and reduce changeovers
  • Adjust schedules for breakdowns or urgent orders
  • Track WIP, completed jobs and inventory in real time
  • Monitor progress against KPIs and take corrective actions
  • Maintain ERP/MRP data for reporting
  • Lead process improvements and lean initiatives
  • Provide guidance to planning team and cross-functional communication
  • Prepare and present schedule and KPI reports to senior management
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory requirements

Job description

The Master Planner/Scheduler is responsible for orchestrating the end-to-end planning and scheduling of all production activities in our precision machining operations. This role ensures efficient use of resources, minimizes lead times, and guarantees on-time delivery of high-precision components to clients across various industries such as aerospace, medical devices, or others. The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge, advanced planning skills, and leadership abilities to drive operational excellence.

1- Training, Experience, Education and Skill Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics or Business
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in production planning/scheduling within a high-precision manufacturing environment.
  • Deep understanding of CNC machining, tooling, inspection standards, and quality control processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g. Epicor, Plex) and planning tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is advantageous.
  • Displays effective organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Possesses excellent complex problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Has exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of computer systems and programs relevant to the industry.

  • Familiarity with advanced scheduling algorithms and optimization techniques.
2. Job Related Duties & Responsibilities
1.Master Production Schedule Development:
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive master production schedule (MPS) aligned with customer orders, sales forecasts, and inventory levels.
  • Prioritize jobs based on delivery dates, machine capacity, tooling status, and resource availability.
  • Translate sales forecasts and customer demand into actionable production plans.
2. Capacity Planning & Resource Management:
  • Conduct capacity analysis to identify bottlenecks and balance workload across multiple machining centers and departments.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure tooling, fixtures, and materials are available for scheduled jobs.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to ensure raw materials and components are procured as per schedule.
  • Develop detailed work schedules for each machine and operator, considering setup times, lead times, and machine capabilities.
  • Sequence jobs to optimize machine utilization, minimize changeovers, and reduce idle time.
  • Adjust schedules dynamically in response to machine breakdowns, urgent orders, or other unforeseen disruptions.
4. Monitoring & Control:
  • Track work-in-progress (WIP), completed jobs, and inventory levels in real-time.
  • Monitor production progress against schedules and KPIs, identifying delays early and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate data within ERP/MRP systems for reporting and analysis.
  • Lead initiatives to improve planning and scheduling processes, including the adoption of lean principles and advanced planning tools.
  • Analyze historical data to identify trends, improve forecast accuracy, and reduce cycle times.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements that enhance throughput and reduce costs.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to planning and scheduling team members.
  • Facilitate communication between Production, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain departments to ensure alignment.
  • Prepare and present reports on schedule adherence, production KPIs, and improvement initiatives to senior management.
7. Compliance & Quality:
  • Ensure planning activities comply with safety, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audits and maintain documentation related to planning processes.
