Job Summary

Markham Stouffville Hospital - Full-Time Security Guard

Job Description

Working on assigned shifts, you will provide proactive and reactive security patrols and respond to incidents. You will be required to write reports and investigate routine incidents, as well as respond to coded emergencies quickly and efficiently. You should display excellent customer service skills and be able to work with people who are under stress or in need of medical assistance. In this role, it is essential that you are physically fit and able to stand and walk for long periods of time.

Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned area on foot to ensure personal, building, and equipment security.
  • Watch for and report irregularities by completing investigations and incident reports, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contact emergency responders (police, fire, ambulance) as required.
  • Utilize two-way radio and computer applications for communicating site activities.
  • Maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and provide specialized security services by enforcing rules and regulations when required.
  • Offer support to any person in need, including providing direction and responding to emergency situations involving injuries or violent individuals.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Prerequisites
  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C
  • Proof of immunizations: TB, MMR, Varicella
  • English (oral and written) fluency
  • Previous experience in security, by-law, or parking enforcement is an asset
  • Certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) or opt-in training through Paladin with a 6-month commitment
  • Authorized to legally work in Canada
  • COVID-19 vaccination status not specified; ensure compliance with current health requirements
