Please note this is a temporary full-time position for 18 months with the potential for extension.

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Marketing Specialist to drive growth and expansion with our current and prospective tourism board partners. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and fostering long-term relationships with clients, stakeholders, and boards to enhance member offerings.

This role requires a blend of sales, business development, and marketing expertise with a strong understanding of the tourism industry, market trends, and analytical flair.

You're a marketing master who gets a twinkle in your eye when you develop strategies and channel plans based on data and your intuitive research. This role is responsible for developing, managing, and implementing marketing tactics and strategies to increase traffic, leads, and conversion rates for our tourism partners.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Report to the Manager, Travel Marketing.
  • Market Research & Analysis:
    • Conduct thorough market research to identify tourism trends, potential markets, and competitors.
    • Analyze customer preferences and behaviors to tailor offerings to target segments.
    • Keep up-to-date with industry developments, travel regulations, and emerging destinations.
  • Business Strategy Development:
    • Develop and implement business development strategies to expand the company's presence in the tourism sector.
    • Set and achieve business growth targets in alignment with overall company goals.
  • Client Acquisition & Relationship Management:
    • Identify and engage with potential tourism boards.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local government bodies, tourism boards, suppliers, and service providers.
    • In collaboration with the Product team, negotiate contracts and marketing agreements with visitor bureau partners from around the world.
  • Brand Promotion & Marketing:
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement marketing campaigns.
    • Promote travel to tourism board destinations through digital channels, trade shows, and industry events.
    • Innovate and grow new channels.
  • Project Management & Coordination:
    • Plan, build, and execute new tourism initiatives, ensuring they align with predetermined goals and member needs.
    • Coordinate with internal teams (Creative Agency, SEO, Digital Product Teams, web management, digital media buying) to ensure smooth delivery of plans and growth expectations.
    • Monitor the performance of launched campaigns, analyzing and making improvements as needed.
  • Financial Management:
    • Develop financial projections and budgets for new opportunities.
    • Monitor the financial performance of new initiatives, adjusting strategies and tactics as necessary to meet growth goals.
  • Partnership Development:
    • Build strategic alliances with local businesses, hotels, attractions, and transportation providers to enhance product offerings.
    • Explore potential partnerships with international tour operators and agents to expand market reach.
    • Travel will be required 2-3 times a year for events and meetings with tourism boards.

WHAT YOU’VE DONE

  • You have a university degree or post-secondary diploma in a related field, such as Marketing or Communications.
  • You have excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ideally, you have proficiency in CRM software and business analytics tools.
  • You have strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • You have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • You have a deep understanding of digital marketing strategies and tools.
