Job description

Position Summary:

The Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies to elevate Wanuskewin’s visibility, attract new clients and partners, and promote our mission and programs. The ideal candidate is not only experienced in marketing but also proactive in seeking out new opportunities to engage and expand our network. Tasks will include a variety of marketing project initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Annual Marketing Plan to achieve stated departmental objectives.
  • Share compelling stories about the impact of the organization’s work.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness, attract new clients, and support departmental objectives while staying on budget and on time.
  • Create all marketing collateral including photography, videography, and written material.
  • Oversee all aspects of marketing and communications, including designing digital marketing, print materials, branding materials, events, and public relations.
  • Understand and implement various digital marketing strategies, including SEO, SEM, social media marketing, email marketing, and content marketing.
  • Create and manage content across multiple platforms.
  • Maintain and enhance the organization’s website and social channels, ensuring they reflect Wanuskewin’s mission and vision.
  • Develop press releases and public notices as required.
  • Identify opportunities for marketing collaboration with other organizations, businesses, and community groups to grow our reach and create new relationships.
  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns, including digital advertising (Google Ads, social media ads) and email marketing campaigns, to drive engagement and support organizational goals.
  • Use data and analytics to assess campaign effectiveness, make adjustments, and continually improve marketing efforts.
  • Track key performance indicators and create regular reports to measure success.
  • Conduct research to understand target audiences, identify market trends, and gather insights.
  • Ensure that all marketing materials, campaigns, and communications are aligned with the organization’s brand identity and core mission.
  • Assist in the creation of multimedia content, including photography, videography, graphic design, video editing, and written materials, to engage audiences across digital and traditional channels.
  • Build and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders, ensuring that their needs are met and that consistent engagement exists.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on marketing strategies and best practices to team members and other stakeholders.
  • Responsible for overseeing all aspects of staff management for the Marketing Team to ensure a high-performing, engaged, and cohesive team.
  • Recruitment and Onboarding: Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract top talent, conduct interviews, and facilitate a smooth onboarding process that integrates new hires into the company culture.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs, create professional development programs, and support employees in enhancing their skills and career growth through mentorship and continuous learning opportunities.
  • Performance Management: Establish clear performance expectations, conduct regular evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to promote accountability and foster a culture of excellence.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and promote a positive workplace environment by encouraging open communication and collaboration.
  • Works in a safe manner, following safety regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in business with a focus on marketing, media studies, graphic design, or other related areas of study.
  • 5+ Years of campaign management experience, social media, graphic design, photography, videography, blogger/vlogger or related experience required.
  • A suitable combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of plains Indigenous cultures and traditions preferred.
  • Videography, Photography, Adobe Creative Suite, Graphic design, video editing experience required.
  • This role requires a highly motivated individual who can think creatively, work independently, and proactively seek out new opportunities for growth and engagement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build strong teams and ensure alignment across departments in a way that fosters collaboration.
  • Outstanding attention to detail ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Must have a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a commitment to achieving the goals and mission of Wanuskewin.
  • Ability to lead and motivate marketing teams, set clear goals, and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to think outside the box and develop creative, innovative marketing strategies.
  • Ability to quickly adjust to changing market conditions and new technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, solve problems, stay organized and meet deadlines.
  • Candidates must possess reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and present a satisfactory drivers abstract.

Physical Requirements:

This position is primarily office based, involving significant time spent on creative and administrative tasks. Occasional outdoor and physical work may be required. Candidates must be comfortable working in various weather conditions and navigating uneven terrain when necessary. Flexibility and willingness to adapt between sedentary desk duties and physical tasks as required by the role.
