Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; 10+ years in commodity marketing or related energy functions.
  • Strong track record negotiating commodity sales agreements and transportation contracts.
  • Experience developing market access and transportation strategies in Western Canada.
  • Proven leadership skills including mentoring and team development.
  • Deep understanding of AECO pricing, NGTL/NOVA systems, and North American markets.
  • Advanced Excel and analytical capabilities; hedging exposure is a plus.

About the Role

We are seeking a Manager, Marketing to lead the commercialization of its natural gas, crude oil, condensate, NGL, and sulphur production portfolio. This is a high-impact role responsible for commodity marketing, transportation and market access strategy, commercial negotiations, portfolio optimization, and market intelligence. The successful candidate will serve as the primary marketing leader for the business, combining hands-on execution with strategic commercial leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the commercialization and marketing of the company's natural gas, crude oil, condensate, NGL, and sulphur production.
  • Negotiate and manage commodity sales agreements and commercial contracts.
  • Ensure reliable and efficient movement of production volumes to market.
  • Oversee transportation commitments, nominations, scheduling activities, and sales execution.
  • Evaluate new commercial opportunities, transportation options, and market access solutions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, marketers, transportation providers, and midstream partners.
  • Participate in the development and negotiation of new commercial partnership arrangements and offtake agreements.
  • Develop short- and long-term marketing, transportation, and market access strategies.
  • Maximize commodity value through pricing optimization, transportation planning, storage utilization, blending opportunities, and market diversification.
  • Monitor commodity market fundamentals, pricing trends, transportation constraints, and market developments.
  • Assess emerging opportunities including LNG-related developments, infrastructure projects, and new market access alternatives.
  • Support acquisition, divestiture, and strategic growth initiatives through commodity forecasting and commercial analysis.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of Western Canadian and North American energy markets.
  • Analyze market trends, transportation economics, and pricing fundamentals.
  • Lead economic evaluations, scenario analysis, and business case development.
  • Provide market insights and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning activities.
  • Lead and mentor marketing personnel.
  • Manage and develop a Marketing Analyst and future team resources.
  • Establish priorities, provide technical guidance, and support employee development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and commercial excellence.
  • Support cross-training and knowledge transfer initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with internal commercial controls, approval authorities, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Manage commercial risks associated with commodity sales, transportation arrangements, and customer agreements.
  • Support reporting, audit requests, and internal governance processes.
  • Maintain alignment between local business requirements and broader corporate expectations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in commodity marketing, commercial operations, trading, transportation, or related energy marketing functions.
  • Strong experience marketing natural gas within Western Canadian markets.
  • Exposure to multiple commodity streams including natural gas, crude oil, condensate, NGLs, and sulphur.
  • Experience negotiating commodity sales agreements, transportation contracts, and commercial arrangements.
  • Demonstrated experience developing market access and transportation strategies.
  • Experience leading commercial evaluations, economic analysis, and business case development.
  • Previous leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching, or managing employees.
  • Strong understanding of Western Canadian energy markets.
  • Knowledge of NGTL/NOVA, TC Energy, Alliance, and related transportation systems.
  • Understanding of commodity pricing mechanisms including AECO and other North American pricing hubs.
  • Knowledge of transportation economics, market access strategies, and netback optimization.
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
  • Experience with hedging programs is considered a strong asset.
