Job description

Marketing Lead
Layla’s mission is to empower people to take control of their mental health. We use client-centric innovation to understand and address gaps in the ever-changing realities in mental health. Today, Layla is a service that facilitates personalized individual, couples, family, and group therapy directly to the public as well as in collaboration with partners in the broader healthcare sector.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Marketing Lead—a true generalist who thrives in small, fast-moving teams and can move seamlessly between strategy and execution. You’ll play a central role in shaping how Layla shows up publicly, combining digital marketing, compelling content, and meaningful community engagement. This role is hands-on: you’ll devise strategies and campaigns, write, launch, iterate, and collaborate with clinicians, designers, and operators to drive outreach that reflects our values and builds trust. You’re as comfortable refining messaging and systems as you are publishing a post or coordinating an initiative.
This role reports directly to the CEO but will be truly embedded across the company. We're open to a wide range of backgrounds and seniority levels, as long as you have at least 5 years of marketing experience and a foundation in content, content marketing, events, and external collaborations.
Key Responsibilities
General Digital Presence
  • Manage and grow Layla’s presence across digital channels (content, blog social, newsletters, paid), ensuring consistency and alignment with Layla’s values and philosophy on mental health.
  • Build trust in our brand by showing empathy, authenticity, and clinical competence. Our voice is professional yet relatable—not chasing virality, but focused on long-term connection. We take a balanced, thoughtful approach to marketing
  • Own Layla’s public website in collaboration with functional leads, our designer, and developer—ensuring it reflects our evolving offerings and initiatives while staying relatable, clear, and effective. Devise and iterate on helpful and engaging pathways for clients, prospective therapists, and referring providers.
Supporting Layla’s Growth
  • Equip our Clinical and Healthcare Partnerships teams with standout collateral and content to help attract therapists and engage primary care providers
  • Lead or support therapist events, primary care outreach efforts, and other Layla-led campaigns
  • Help organize and represent Layla at community-facing events—from educational talks and conferences to university fairs and well-being initiatives
  • Contribute to high-impact, cross-functional initiatives aligned with company priorities
Content And Thought Leadership
  • Work closely with subject matter experts (clinicians, researchers, our advisory board) to co-develop and adapt content for the public, therapists, and primary care providers
  • Translate clinical expertise into engaging, trustworthy material adapted for each channel
  • Leverage high-quality content libraries recently acquired by Layla
Tooling & Automation
  • Manage the technical execution of marketing campaigns and programs, leveraging existing platforms like Salesforce, Mailchimp, Webflow, GA4, ad platforms, etc
  • Improve marketing automation and maintain data hygiene
Requirements
Training & Experience
  • 5+ years in marketing across a range of functions
  • Track record of producing content with/for subject matter experts
  • Minimum 2+ years experience in startups or scale-ups
  • Nice-to-Have: Background in healthcare or well-being
Professional Qualities
  • Strategic and hands-on—you move easily between planning and execution (in the same day)
  • Responsive and highly communicative. Given the dynamic nature of our team, this role is for someone who can handle context switching and thrives with open communication
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. Responsive and adaptable; thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments
  • Strong communicator — clear, compelling, and concise
  • Energized by working cross-functionally, especially with clinicians, product teams, and partnerships. Inclusive and promotes a welcoming environment. You contribute to projects both in lead and support capacities
  • High curiosity and commitment to personal growth]
  • Dependable with a track record of getting things done on time and at high quality
  • Sound Decision-Making and Problem-Solving: Demonstrate ability to assess situations, make informed decisions, and address challenges effectively while maintaining alignment with Layla values.
Interests
  • You are passionate about making a positive impact and improving people’s wellbeing
  • You enjoy building meaningful relationships and communities
  • You thrive in a high-growth, fast-paced environment with evolving structures
  • You like working within an iterative approach based on data and insights
Logistical requirements
  • Access to private and quiet workspace that allows for the protection of confidential information and the avoidance of disruption
  • Access to internet connection with sufficient bandwidth and connection speed. Company will provide a setup budget, computer as well as a set monthly budget to cover the use of personal devices for work
  • This is a hybrid position. In-person days in Toronto at Layla’s office (Liberty Village) or other locations in the GTA will be required (approximately 3-6 days per month). Candidates must be within commuting distance of Toronto.
