The Content Specialist acts as the company’s photojournalist and is at the heart of the action. Reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Communications, you would be joining the team responsible for sharing General Fusion’s mission—that we’re transforming the world’s energy grid with our uniquely practical technology—with all external audiences using the company’s owned channels (e.g., newsletter, blog, social media, and website), in addition to liaising with media around the world (e.g., New York Times, CNN, Economist, and Science). This position will require the successful individual to be in office 4 days per week.

Responsibilities :

Duties include but are not limited to the following :

  • Lead onsite communications, documenting progress in our state-of-the-art facility, taking photos and videos, and managing vendors supporting these efforts.
  • Create content such as short videos, web materials, presentations, blogs, and social media posts that showcase the company.
  • Liaise with third-party vendors to create materials such as animations and graphics.
  • Upload content to platforms including MailChimp, Meltwater, WordPress, and social media accounts.
  • Monitor and analyze media, social media, and website analytics to assess campaign effectiveness.
  • Maintain reporter and events databases.
  • Conduct media and issues-related research.
  • Ensure brand standards and messaging are consistent across all platforms.
  • Plan and manage events, conferences, media days, and site tours.
  • Maintain an internal database of media materials, including photographs, videos, publications, and coverage.
  • Prepare documentation and content with internal teams for media, customer, government, investor, supplier, NGO, and stakeholder communications.
  • Anticipate communication needs and prepare accordingly.
  • Assist with internal corporate communications development and dissemination.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements :

  • Post-secondary degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience creating content in journalism, corporate communications, or marketing (experience in energy, R&D, or technology is an asset).
  • Proficiency with presentation and graphic design tools such as InDesign, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Excel, etc.
  • Experience working with technical experts to develop accessible public messaging.
  • Experience managing website and social media content (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube).
  • Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
  • Ability to work independently with remote supervision.
  • Genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for energy issues, science, and technology.

What We Offer :

  • Flexible hours - Hybrid work environment
  • Four weeks’ vacation and 10 days personal time
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • RRSP contributions
  • Support for professional development
  • Dynamic company culture—passionate, innovative, and committed!

Salary :
