Job description

The Marketing & Communications team facilitates the external-facing requirements of the organization by developing and maintaining our brand image, brand identity, and funder-required social media usage for summer programming, and preparation for Fall/Winter tasks. Working in small groups, or across departments, youth in these roles develop confidence and begin to master skills used in their writing, analysis, and participation in the workplace. Our waterfall mentorship model means you will help others to learn things you are already an expert in and others will help you learn things you are working on yourself. These roles are progressive over the summer and youth are afforded as much scope and responsibility as they are willing and able to handle. It's a great way to 'level up' in a team setting where your voice and opinions genuinely make a difference daily.

Full-time summer employment contracts range from 8-16 weeks, from May through September. Post-secondary students are welcomed and encouraged to apply as part of their program requirements for a co-op or work placement. Contracts are funded by the Government of Canada and offered at the Ontario minimum wage.

These positions follow a hybrid work structure, with employees working both from home and from the office/meet-up location(s) as needed, based on the demands of specific tasks and projects. Working from the office/studio or your local meet-up location(s) will be required for tasks that require a high degree of collaboration or in-person supervision. Training and workshops may be online or in-person.

Due to federal funding requirements, eligible applicants must:

  • Be 15-30 years of age on their first day of work
  • Be a Canadian citizen, have permanent resident status, or be protected under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Be present in Canada while working
  • Hold a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada according to provincial or territorial legislation
  • Note that not all positions are funded in all locations

Positions available include:

  • Marketing Coordinator: Build and maintain relations with media and the public, develop external communication frameworks, strategize and implement marketing campaigns, and conduct market research.
  • Social Media Coordinator: Develop strategies and content for digital campaigns and maintain social media accounts.
  • Communications Coordinator: Develop and deliver key messages internally and externally.
  • Content Creator: Use graphic design, video editing, and copywriting skills to create assets for campaigns.

Work hours:

  • Typically 35 hours per week
  • Rotational coverage for evenings and weekends as scheduled

The Co-op seeks individuals who enjoy collaboration, creativity, learning new skills, and engaging with artists and the community. Some evenings and weekends will be scheduled. Please include any additional documentation (e.g., past projects or school assignments) via a link to Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar platform for review.
