The Opportunity

DIVERSEcity is seeking a full-time Marketing & Communications Specialist to support the organization and its programs, services, and events. The role involves producing and promoting print and digital communications, engaging stakeholders, and enhancing the organization’s profile through storytelling and social media marketing.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Research, write, and edit stories for various media including press releases, articles, newsletters, flyers, brochures, and publications.
  2. Design flyers and brochures aligning with brand standards.
  3. Create multimedia content for social media and websites.
  4. Support internal communications, including newsletters, staff events, and manuals.
  5. Update website content, manage digital campaigns, and analyze analytics.
  6. Develop and schedule social media content.
  7. Collaborate with program teams on marketing content and plans.
  8. Coordinate with media and stakeholders for promotion.
  9. Identify new marketing opportunities aligned with strategic goals.
  10. Plan and promote events, including community outreach and festivals.
  11. Attend events as needed, with flexibility for evenings and weekends.
  12. Maintain photo archives, contact lists, and clippings.
  13. Adhere to organizational policies and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Diploma in marketing, communications, or related field, plus at least 2 years of experience, preferably with both corporate and non-profit sectors.
  • Published samples of articles and profiles from journalism or corporate/non-profit contexts.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong creative writing, editing, and content development skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects.
  • Attention to detail, brand consistency, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience with social media, multimedia content, and Google Adwords.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, WordPress, and Adobe Suite; graphic design skills are a plus.
  • Basic photography and videography skills.
  • Knowledge of diversity and social justice issues, especially in Surrey, Delta, Langley, and White Rock, is an asset.
  • Criminal Record Check required.
