Responsibilities
- Provide advanced writing, editing, and proofreading support for internal and external communications.
- Write clear, concise business communications tailored to the target audience, ensuring grammatical accuracy. Offer recommendations on suitable communication mediums.
- Participate in departmental strategic planning and coordinate the development and execution of assigned projects and initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong, customer-focused relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Create and enhance brand awareness through strategic marketing materials.
- Develop and maintain internal Marketing and Communications (MarComm) plans, ensuring they are measurable and aligned with district goals.
- Execute external communication tactics such as news releases, articles, and updates on PCL.com.
- Create social media content, understand platform audience preferences, and identify potential risks.
- Identify opportunities for PCL to be recognized as a thought leader through speaking engagements, articles, and media stories.
- Support local media relations and crisis communications efforts.
- Build relationships with media outlets, pitch stories, host media tours, and generate positive media coverage.
- Collaborate with creative teams to produce visual communications like brochures, presentations, and marketing assets.
- Lead events and coordinate communication and logistics.
- Enhance brand awareness through both internal and external communications.
- Provide communication consultation to peers, middle management, and some executives.
- Develop and execute internal communication plans aligned with district and department goals.
- Partner with the Marketing and Proposals team on marketing, communication, and proposal initiatives.
- Support the Marketing and Proposals department and other teams as needed.
- Manage the district's weekly internal newsletter, including writing, coordination, distribution, and analytics.
- Monitor media coverage, analyze data, and report on media performance.
- Understand and leverage competitor differentiators.
- Embed a solution-oriented and profitability-focused approach in communications practices.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Postsecondary degree or diploma in marketing, communications, journalism, or equivalent.
- 4+ years of progressive experience in a communications role.
- Bilingual in English and French.
- Eligible to obtain security clearance.
- Ability to develop and implement comprehensive communication plans, with a strong understanding of various media and visual assets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to align communication strategies with business objectives.
- Trusted advisor to peers and management, with problem-solving capabilities.
- Working knowledge of data analytics.
- Discretion in handling confidential information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and other communication tools; adaptability to new technology.
- Photography, videography, and graphic design skills are assets.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and other specialized software.
