Job Synopsis
The Marketing & Communications Manager provides strategic leadership to a multi-disciplinary team in support of MCC Ontario's mission to amplify peacebuilding, strengthen local impact, and grow relationships and partnerships. This role ensures that all communication outputs, from donor reports and social media campaigns to thrift marketing and program storytelling, reflect MCC Ontario’s values and priorities. The Manager is responsible for crafting a unified communications strategy, shaping organizational storytelling, maintaining the integrity of MCC’s brand and brand standards, building MCC Ontario’s brand profile. This role leads a high-performing team that supports international and domestic fundraising, program awareness, and public engagement across the province, with direct supervision of 4 team members.
MCC Ontario is a hybrid workplace, with some days in office (50 Kent Ave, Kitchener Ontario) and some working from home.

Required
- Proven experience in strategic storytelling, campaign development, and digital and print communications
- Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills
- Experience managing a diverse team of communications professionals
- Strong project management and planning skills
- Proficiency in analytics tools and digital communication platforms
- Willingness to work with sensitivity within a diverse cultural and theological milieu
- Bachelors degree + 5-7 years experience in communications, public relations, or marketing, and 2-3 in a leadership or supervisory capacity
- Ability to work non-standard hours required, including evenings and weekends, as necessary
Preferred
- Familiarity with Mennonite and Be in Christ constituency in Ontario
- Experience in a non-profit or mission-based organization
- Familiarity with MCC’s history, mission, and priorities
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Lead the development and implementation of a unified organizational communications and marketing strategy, ensuring it implements the priorities of the MCCO strategic plan
- Monitor communications and marketing trends, identifying emerging opportunities, and applying best practices to maximize impact and engagement
- Ensure brand consistency and alignment across all messaging platforms
- Build organizational visibility and increase engagement through compelling storytelling and targeted campaigns
- Act as a key advisor to leadership on crisis communications, public messaging and marketing opportunities
- Give oversight to MCCO’s media relations strategy, ensuring intentional and timely engagement and ongoing relationship building
- Work alongside the Senior Leadership Team as required, providing strategic communications, marketing and engagement insights to senior leadership in a timely manner
Team Oversight & Management
- Lead, manage, mentor and motivate a highly performing marketing and communications team with knowledge, competency, operational processes, creativity and structural alignment to best meet the needs of MCC Ontario
- Build an inclusive, innovative, and high-performing team culture
- Ensure the effective project management of initiatives, including personnel, resources, time, and budget, with proper oversight of expenditures
Collaborative Leadership & Relationship Building
- Collaborate within the broader MCC system on Marketing and Communications planning and development
- Represent Ontario on the MCC Communications network and on other system-wide working groups as appropriate
- Provide leadership and manage relationships with marketing and communications vendors and consultants
- Ensure collaboration and coordination across MCCO departments to achieve marketing and communication goals
- Actively participate on the Cross Departmental Leadership team (CDL), attending quarterly meetings and collaborating with colleagues
Campaign & Storytelling Strategy
- Shape MCC Ontario’s public narrative across audiences and channels
- Oversee donor communications, newsletters, impact reports, annual reports
- Integrate stories of MCC’s work into all communication outputs
Measurement & Evaluation
- Develop and monitor performance metrics across campaigns and channels
- Use data to assess and improve reach, engagement, and impact
- Ensure efficient delivery and return on investment for communications activities
Other
- Ensure employees adhere to company policies and legal regulations
- Ensure staff on your team comply with the risk management policy and procedures and foster a culture where risks will be identified and escalated.
- Ensure the support and direction necessary for the effective implementation of MCCO’s health and safety program are provided and, health and safety policies, procedures and regulations are enforced.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- Participate in MCCO orientations, provincial meetings, Peace Conference and Staff Development Day
- Participate in a local faith community, being willing to use personal gifts within this community and model nonviolent peacemaking through respectful interaction with others
- Maintain a high level of integrity, reflecting Christian respect and Christ's unconditional love to those with whom you work, including colleagues, partner agencies, the homeless and marginalized
- Answer inquiries about MCC from constituency and general public; communicate MCC's values, articulating the importance of MCC's criteria for workers, all of whom serve as representatives of the Mennonite and Be in Christ churches which support MCC
- Model nonviolent peacemaking through respectful daily interactions with staff and the public.

Salary Details
Base salary : $78,200. This role starts on day 1 with a company paid benefit package
Group benefits package is employer paid : supplemental medical / dental / vision, life insurance, AD&D, global medical assistance, EAP, and RRSP contributions matched - starts on day one.
LTD premiums are the responsibility of all permanent, salaried positions. These are the responsibility of the team member and are paid through salary deduction.
