Job description

About Team Survivor Northwest

Team Survivor Northwest (TSNW) provides fitness and health education programs for women who have had a cancer diagnosis. Our mission is to support women in their physical and emotional healing through movement, connection, and community. Through outdoor programs, exercise classes, and special events, we build strength—both physical and emotional—together.

Role Overview

As the Marketing and Communications Manager, you will be the voice and visual storyteller of TSNW. In this role, you will elevate our brand, connect with our community, and amplify our mission. You’ll shape how we show up in the world—across digital platforms, print materials, fundraising campaigns, and events—while building relationships and growing engagement.

This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on implementation. From crafting newsletters and managing our website, to building compelling fundraising campaigns and coordinating member stories, you’ll play a central role in expanding our reach and deepening our impact.

Responsibilities

You’ll Lead and Evolve Our Brand Presence

You’ll ensure a consistent and compelling brand identity across all communication channels. Working closely with staff and volunteers, you’ll lead the development of an annual marketing strategy, maintain our photo/video library, and train others on brand use. You’ll also oversee tools like Canva and social media platforms to bring our brand to life in a fresh, relevant way.

You’ll Drive Fundraising Campaigns That Inspire Action

Fundraising is a team sport, and you’ll be the marketing lead on campaigns like GiveBIG, the Gala, Mountain Climb, and Giving Tuesday. You’ll develop campaign themes, visuals, timelines, and messaging that inspire donors and increase visibility.

You’ll Create and Share Stories That Matter

At the heart of TSNW are the stories of our members. You’ll coordinate testimonials, highlight achievements, and write press releases for media and public engagement. You’ll also identify external content—research, articles, or news—that supports our values. These stories will power our annual report, fundraising appeals, and community communications.

You’ll Keep Our Website and Emails Fresh and Functional

You’ll manage and refresh our WordPress website, including key program pages like Gala, Fitness Retreat, and Outdoor Programs. You’ll also run our email marketing (via Mailchimp), segmenting audiences and tracking engagement to ensure we’re reaching people effectively. You’ll produce a monthly Broad Supporter newsletter and 1–2 additional campaign emails per month.

You’ll Empower Others to Join In

From recruiting a volunteer photographer to training a team member on Mailchimp, you’ll create opportunities for others to support our mission. You’ll also own the systems that keep things running—ensuring our tools (Mailchimp, WordPress, Canva, and social media) are well maintained and user-friendly.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably in the nonprofit or mission-driven sector
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as journalism, public relations, communications or marketing
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and design skills
  • Comfort managing multiple projects and deadlines independently
  • Proficiency with Canva, WordPress, Mailchimp and social media platforms
  • A collaborative spirit, attention to detail, and a passion for community impact
  • Preferred experience managing volunteers or working in health or wellness communities

COMPENSATION

  • Part-time: 20 hours per week
  • Hybrid role (Seattle-area presence preferred)
  • Compensation is $28/hour
  • Benefits include paid holidays, vacation and sick leave
  • Flexible schedule with remote work options
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a close-knit, mission-driven team

Team Survivor Northwest is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, genetic information, protected veteran status or other factors protected by law.
