Position Details

The Dhillon School of Business Marketing and Communications team is inviting qualified applicants to apply to the 35-hour a week, 6-week, casual Marketing and Communications Assistant position. This position will support the Dhillon School of Business’ outreach and engagement efforts by creating compelling content across various platforms. They will contribute to storytelling initiatives, assist with digital marketing and help enhance the school’s brand through written, visual and multimedia content. This role requires excellent writing and communication skills, problem solving, creativity, attention to detail, proficiency in content creation, technical digital skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This position is a hybrid position. The successful candidate may work remotely but some work is required on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content marketing - Write engaging content and collect info and updates for stories, blogs, printed materials, web and other marketing/comms initiatives.
  • Video - Take video, including testimonials of stakeholders for advertising use.
  • Digital - Plan and create social media posts that engage stakeholders, create and update content for web pages.

Salary

$21.44 per hour.

The University reserves the right to not fill the position if the Search Committee is unable to identify a qualified candidate by May 31, 2025.

Position Qualifications

  • You must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program, in marketing, communications or a related field.
  • You must have completed at least two years of undergraduate post-secondary study with satisfactory academic performance, or be in a graduate (Master’s or Ph.D.) program.
  • You should have strong writing and editing skills, as well as experience with content creation such as writing blogs, creating engaging social media posts or other marketing materials.
  • A foundational understanding of video production such as basic skills in shooting and editing video, including capturing testimonials.
  • Attention to detail, being able to proofread and ensure content accuracy.
  • Creativity and the ability to generate fresh ideas for storytelling and engagement.
  • Time management skills including being able to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal communication skills to work with different teams and stakeholders effectively.
  • Technical proficiency in tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media schedulers like Buffer.
  • Understanding of web content management, the Drupal platform and basic SEO principles an asset.

You must meet the criteria to be a participant in the Canada Summer Jobs 2025 program including:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations.
