Job summary

Iaas Lc in Calgary is seeking an entry-level Accounting Analyst to support monthly accruals, invoicing, settlements, and entries for gas marketing transactions.

You will assist with monthly revenue and reconciliations, compile data from Marketing, Production Accounting, Risk, and third parties, and help prepare monthly financial results and variance analysis. A Bachelor's degree and strong Excel skills are required.

• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with SAP S/4HANA or ETRM systems.
• Basic accounting principles, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Detail-oriented with monthly deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly accruals, invoicing, settlements, and entries for gas trading.
• Assist with monthly revenue, balance sheet, and reconciliations; investigate variances.
• Compile and validate transaction data from multiple teams for reporting.
• Prepare monthly commodity financial results and variance analysis.
• Support tracking of transportation and midstream commitments and costs.
• Prepare journal entries and recurring reports using SAP and Excel.
• Respond to information requests and audits.
• Maintain desk procedures and seek process improvements.

Job description

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting monthly accruals, invoicing, settlements, and accounting entries for physical natural gas and natural gas liquids marketing transactions
• Assisting with monthly revenue, balance sheet, and account reconciliations; investigating and resolving variances
• Compiling and validating transaction data from Marketing, Production Accounting, Risk, and third parties to ensure accurate reporting
• Assisting in preparing monthly commodity financial results and variance analysis, including price and volume drivers
• Supporting tracking and analysis of transportation and midstream commitments, utilization, and related costs
• Preparing journal entries and recurring reports using SAP and Microsoft Excel
• Responding to information requests and providing supporting documentation for internal and external audits
• Maintaining desk procedures and identifying opportunities to improve, standardize, and automate Marketing Accounting processes

About You

The company is looking for:

• Recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline
• Strong interest in energy marketing, financial reporting, and the Canadian natural gas and natural gas liquids industry
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills; experience with SAP S/4HANA, Eka InSightCM, or another ETRM system is an asset
• Basic understanding of accounting principles, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, completeness, and meeting monthly deadlines
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to build collaborative working relationships
• Motivated self-starter and team player who is curious, adaptable, and willing to learn
