Job description

Global Financial Firm located in Toronto, ON has an immediate contract opportunity for an experienced Market Risk Business Analyst.

This role is currently on a Hybrid Schedule.

You will need to have reliable internet, a computer, and an Android or iPhone for remote access into the client systems during remote work.

We expect in-office presence on weekly days depending on team requirements.

Video or face-to-face interviews are required prior to all offers.

Market Risk Senior Business Analyst

This role will be part of the Market Risk Technology Team responsible for delivering market risk technology and software solutions for the Client’s First and Second Lines of Defense. Software solutions include high-throughput feed processing engines, high-performance pricing engines for VaR, Stress Testing, limit calculations, and big data lakes for sharing risk metrics with Front Office, Risk, and Finance teams. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on advanced business and technology solutions for risk management.

Responsibilities :

  • Support development and execution of strategic initiatives, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and post-implementation activities.
  • Identify business requirements from Risk Managers and ensure correct implementation in the technology infrastructure.
  • Document systems requirements through business requirement documents or user stories.
  • Analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Create business analysis documents detailing functionalities, risk methodologies, and workflows.
  • Assist in planning and supporting operational programs for risk systems management.
  • Participate in designing, implementing, and managing core business processes.
  • Define test cases and success criteria, support testing strategies, and ensure comprehensive testing coverage.
  • Develop change management plans and lead or support change activities.
  • Create management presentations to communicate strategic initiatives and achievements.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Risk Management, Technology, and other groups.
  • Influence stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Several years of experience as a lead business analyst in financial services.
  • Deep understanding of Market Risk concepts such as Stress Testing, VaR, and capital calculations.
  • Ability to understand risk models and statistical concepts, collaborating with developers to improve risk calculations.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and statistical skills with experience handling large data sets.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, SQL, and data management; knowledge of additional programming languages is a plus.
  • Experience managing risks across systems, data, models, controls, and governance.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of managing multiple deadlines within a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
  • Strategic thinking skills and the ability to frame complex business problems.
  • Strong communication skills.

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Industry qualifications such as CFA or FRM are a plus.
