Department Overview

We are Market Risk. While we don’t actually predict the future, we do like to think we get pretty close. The Market Risk team’s role is to identify, measure, communicate and make decisions on enterprise-wide market risk, liquidity risk, and counterparty credit risk, as well as collateral management activities in support of the Risk Appetite at TD. We have a global presence with teams in Toronto, Calgary, New York, Singapore, Dublin and London. TD recognizes that a strong risk culture and equable approach to risk management is fundamental to our success.

About the Program

The Market Risk Rotational Program is an immersive 24-month program designed to help you step into the world of risk management. On top of developing your leadership skills, the goal of the program is to help strengthen your thought process and proactive thinking to better understand, administer and deliver best practices to achieve the highest level of risk management. If you’re a natural problem solver, love numbers and have a keen interest in finance/capital markets, we want you to be part of our rotational program. In this program you’ll complete four customized, six-month rotations across Market Risk where you may learn about: Trading Market Risk, Non-Trading Market Risk, Liquidity Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk and Collateral Management, Capital Risk. We align rotation opportunities with our business strategies to ensure you work on the most important priorities.

What You’ll Do
  • Make an Impact Measure, interpret and monitor risk metrics to assess risk exposures, providing insights that support risk management and interaction with the first line of defense.
  • Enforce risk governance standards through the identification, assessment, escalation, and remediation of control exceptions, ensuring adherence to risk policies and a robust control environment.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of risk exposures, portfolio dynamics, and market developments, providing actionable insights and recommendations that support effective risk oversight and informed decision-making.
  • Proactively manage operational risk through the execution of key controls, timely identification and escalation of issues, and analytical assessment of emerging risks and control weaknesses.
  • Apply AI, automation, and data-driven innovation to solve complex risk management challenges, enhance analytical capabilities, and deliver optimal, efficient, and sustainable solutions across the organization.

Job Requirements
  • Strong foundation in capital markets, financial instruments and pricing and a solid mathematical/statistical background.
  • Expertise in quantitative analysis, financial modeling, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to organize, analyze, and synthesize large and complex datasets to identify material risks, uncover actionable insights, and support effective risk measurement, oversight, and strategic decision‑making.
  • Ability to summarize and communicate complicated results and/or issues in a clear, concise and timely manner.
  • Can manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast‑paced and complex environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate accountability, independence and taking initiatives.
  • Strong desire to learn new things and develop an end‑to‑end understanding of processes.
  • Desire to work in a caring, respectful and inclusive environment where all employees are supported.
Additional Information
  • Educational Requirements; Must be graduated between May 2025 and May 2027 with a bachelor's degree in business, Economics, Mathematics, Finance or other relevant discipline.
  • Program Location and Start Date: Toronto-based program which starts in July 2027. Candidates must have graduated prior to start (including final grades, excluding convocation).
  • Hours & Workplace Model: Monday–Friday, standard business hours.
