Compensation

Marker-Grader positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds:

  • Master’s Degree Complete ($34.10/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed a master’s degree (Rate effective September 1, 2024)
  • Undergraduate Degree Complete ($29.40/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed a four-year honours degree or a three-year pass degree (Rate effective September 1, 2024)
  • Third Year Complete ($21.70/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed the third year of an undergraduate honours degree (Rate effective September 1, 2024)
  • Second Year Complete ($19.09/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed the second year of an undergraduate degree (Rate effective September 1, 2024)
  • First Year Complete ($18.00/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed the first year of an undergraduate honours degree (Rate effective September 1, 2024)
Duties

Contract 1: September 1, 2025 - April 30, 2026

The number of nominal hours assigned to a Marker-Grader may vary. Total stipend depends on course enrollment, with 1 hour per registered student. Duties include marking two assignments: a) the write-rewrite assignment for resume-cover letters; and b) the write-rewrite assignment for LinkedIn profiles, in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement.

Qualifications
  • Must have completed or be enrolled in PSYC 5Y51/52/61/62/71/72 or PSYC 7Y51/52/53/61/62/63/71/72/73, or 5F01, within the previous five years; OR minimum 3rd Year complete and currently enrolled in a PSYC BA or BSc program, with an average of at least 85; and have taken this course within the previous five years, with a grade of at least 80. Previous TA or Marker-grader experience in this course is considered an equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of all course topics.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage data accurately.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet marking deadlines.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a thorough understanding of APA style.
  • Adept at providing constructive feedback.
  • Ability and willingness to communicate with the instructor, fellow TAs, and students via email and video conferencing.
