Job summary

Brock University is seeking a part-time marker-grader to support course assessment activities in the CUPE4207-1 group. The role involves grading assignments, feedback provision, and potential invigilation as needed, under Article 22 of the Collective Agreement.

Applicants should have MBAB 5P54 (or equivalent) with 80%+, a major in Business with at least 75%, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Previous marking experience is an asset.

  • Duties in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement.
  • Mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and final exams with written feedback identifying the basis of the grade.
  • May invigilate mid-terms/examinations or enter grades into databases at the course instructor's request.

Compensation
  • Master's Degree Complete ($3 6.00 /hour) - Paid to employees who have completed a master's degree. (Rate effective September 1, 202 6 )
  • Undergraduate Degree Complete ($31.04 /hour) Paid to employees who have completed a four-year honours degree or a three-year pass degree. (Rate effective September 1, 202 6 )
  • Third Year Complete ($22.91 /hour) - Paid to employees who have completed the third year of an undergraduate honours degree. (Rate effective September 1, 202 6 )
  • Second Year Complete ($20.15 /hour) Paid to employees who have completed the second year of an undergraduate degree. (Rate effective September 1, 202 6 )
  • First Year Complete ($19 .00/hour) Paid to employees who have completed the first year of an undergraduate honours degree. (Rate effective September 1, 202 6 )
Duties

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement. The marker-grader is expected to mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams and must be prepared to provide written feedback to students that will clearly identify the basis of the grade assigned; whether it is due to substantive content, or to written communications, including spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization of the submission.

The marker-grader may be expected to invigilate mid-terms and examinations for this course, or enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor.

Qualifications
  • Must have completed MBAB 5P54 (or equivalent in English) and attained a grade of 80% or higher
  • Graduate of or Major in Business with a minimum major average of 75%
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven track record of working effectively with deadlines
  • Previous Marker/Grader experience is considered an asset

As per Article 22.04 of the Collective Agreement: Members shall not accept any appointment which, taken together with all other appointments at the University, would cause the member to exceed the maximum number of regular hours (i.e., not overtime hours) allowable in a work week under the Employment Standards Act, as amended from time to time.
