Compensation

Marker-Grader positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.

  • Master’s Degree Complete ($34.10/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed a master’s degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2024)
  • Undergraduate Degree Complete ($29.40/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed a four-year honours degree or a three-year pass degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2024)
  • Third Year Complete ($21.70/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed the third year of an undergraduate honours degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2024)
  • Second Year Complete ($19.09/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed the second year of an undergraduate degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2024)
  • First Year Complete ($18.00/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed the first year of an undergraduate honours degree. (Rate effective September 1, 2024)
Duties

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement. The marker-grader is expected to mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams, providing clear written feedback on the basis of the grade assigned, including content and written communication quality. They may also be asked to invigilate exams or enter grades into databases as requested by the instructor.

Qualifications
  1. Minimum 4th Year complete in the CHYS BA or CHYS BA/BEd program, or be entering/continuing in the CHYS MA or CHYS PhD program. Prior experience as a Marker-Grader for CHYS 4P25 is considered equivalent.
  2. Must have completed CHYS 4P25 or an equivalent course with 80% or higher. Previous experience as a Marker/Grader for CHYS 4P25 is considered equivalent.
  3. Evidence of communication skills (e.g., reference letter or evaluation from previous TA/Marker-Grader experience).
  4. Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
