Maritime Technician Responsibilities
Operate and maintain propulsion and auxiliary systems aboard marine vessels (e.g., boilers, turbines, pumps).
Monitor engine room systems for safe and efficient performance.
Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
Record operational data such as temperatures, pressures, and fluid levels.
Follow safety, environmental, and regulatory protocols (e.g., Transport Canada standards).
Maritime Technician Qualifications
Highschool diploma and/or diploma / certificate in Power Engineering or Marine Engineering Technology
Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid systems, and energy conversion principles
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in confined spaces and in rotating shifts aboard vessels
