Job summary

BC Ferries is seeking a skilled Welder in Richmond to support vessels, terminals, buildings, and new construction projects. You will plan, supply, maintain, and perform welding and fabrication work with strong collaboration across trades and contractors.

The role includes leading junior staff, preparing sketches, ordering materials, and coordinating work in a safety-critical marine environment. A valid BC driver’s license and CWB considerations are noted.

Qualifications

• A Level Welding Certificate is required.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience, including at least 1 year in welding fabrication.
• CWB certification is an asset.
• Valid BC driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan work by preparing sketches, estimating materials, and ordering steel, pipe, and fittings.
• Set up welding activities, organize machines and tools, and perform fabrication and welding.
• Travel to off-site locations and transport dangerous cargo safely.
• Provide lead hand support to new employees and apprentices.
• Complete paperwork, stock welding trucks, and ensure safety equipment is ready.
