Job summary

QSL Tailor-Made Success invites a seasoned supervisor to oversee vessel loading and unloading operations and manage our clients' cargo handling. You will lead a twenty-person longshore crew, driving safety, efficiency and service quality on a rotating schedule including weekends and nights.

The role requires outdoor work with industrial equipment and a client-centred approach. We offer growth through QSL University and opportunities across our Canadian terminals.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a team of dock workers or similar.
• Willingness to work weekends and night shifts.
• Comfort working outdoors with industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and allocate lifting equipment and heavy machinery resources.
• Dispatch tasks and manage a team of twenty longshoremen.
• Coordinate the execution of work to meet timelines.
• Oversee safe work practices and enforce environmental and operational standards.
• Drive continuous improvement and optimize equipment and labor use.
• Ensure client satisfaction by keeping stakeholders informed.

Founded over 45 years ago, QSL is a key supply chain player in port terminal operations, stevedoring, marine services, logistics and transportation throughout North America. We specialize in the development of innovative and customized dockside, road and rail handling solutions.

The supervisor plays a key role in overseeing vessel loading and unloading operations and managing the handling of our clients' cargo. They also lead initiatives focused on health and safety, operational excellence, customer service quality, environmental stewardship, and employee engagement.

DAILY YOU WILL:

• Plan and allocate lifting equipment, and heavy machinery resources.
• Dispatch tasks and manage a team of twenty longshoreman.
• Coordinate the execution of the work in order to meet the agreed timelines.
• Oversee safe work practices and enforce environmental and operational standards.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation in work methods, optimizing the use of equipment and labor.
• Ensure client satisfaction by keeping stakeholders well-informed.
