Job summary

QSL in Canada seeks a hands‑on Supervisor to oversee vessel loading/unloading, lead health and safety initiatives, and drive operational excellence. You will manage a longshore crew, allocate heavy machinery, and coordinate work to meet schedules while maintaining client satisfaction.

This role requires outdoor work in varied conditions and a strong client‑centred approach, with opportunities for leadership development across our terminal network.

Qualifications

• Leadership and practical sense required.
• Able to work evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather.

Job Description

The supervisor plays a key role in overseeing vessel loading and unloading operations and managing the handling of our clients' cargo. They also lead initiatives focused on health and safety, operational excellence, customer service quality, environmental stewardship, and employee engagement.

Responsibilities

• Plan and allocate lifting equipment, and heavy machinery resources.
• Manage a team oflongshoreman, ranging in size from a small crew to approximately20 employees.
• Coordinate the execution of the work in order to meet the agreed timelines.
• Oversee safe work practices and enforce environmental and operational standards.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation in work methods, optimizing the use of equipment and labor.
• Ensure client satisfaction by keeping stakeholders well-informed.
