Job summary

Maple Leaf Marinas is seeking an experienced marine technician to join our growing team. This is a full-time year-round position with very competitive pay, health benefits, tool and boot allowances, and a Group Retirement Savings Plan.

Candidates should have extensive knowledge of inboard/sterndrive and outboard engines and be able to diagnose and repair problems with all boat systems, including drives, electrical, and ballast systems.

Qualifications

• Marine technician with knowledge of inboard/sterndrive and outboard engines
• Ability to diagnose and repair all boat systems (drives, electrical, ballast)
• Ability to use diagnostic computers (Vodia, G3, Diacom)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Valid Boater’s License

Responsibilities

• Test the performance of marine engines and electrical systems
• Perform all services on Outboards, Inboards and Sterndrives
• Troubleshoot electrical and engine problems
• Use diagnostic computers (Vodia, G3, Diacom)
• Replace broken/worn parts and follow manufacturer service bulletins
• Repair hydraulic and steering systems
• Winterize and Summerize all systems
• Follow health and safety protocols
• Communicate with office staff and the Service Manager
• Work independently or in a group
• Any other duties as assigned

Job description

Maple Leaf Marinas (“MLM”) is the largest owner and operator of marinas, marine resorts, and boat dealerships in Canada. MLM’s fast growing portfolio comprises 21 locations throughout the Lake Simcoe, Georgian Bay and Muskoka Regions.

We are looking for an experienced marine technician to join our growing team.This is a full-time year-round position with very competitive pay, health benefits, tool and boot allowances, and a Group Retirement Savings Plan.

Candidates for a Marine Technician should have extensive knowledge of inboard/sterndrive and outboard engines and be able to work on land and on the water. Able to diagnose and repair problems with all systems on boats, including drives, electrical, and ballast systems.

Duties Include (but are not limited to)

• Testing the performance of marine engines and electrical systems
• Performing all services on Outboards, Inboards and Sterndrives
• Troubleshooting electrical and engine complaints
• Ability to use diagnostic computers (Vodia, G3, Diacom)
• Replacing broken/worn out parts
• Ability to perform service bulletins per manufacturer specifications
• Repairs hydraulic and steering systems
• Winterizing and Summerizing all systems
• Follow company health and safety protocols
• Ability to work independently or in a group
• Communication with office staff and the Service Manager
• Any other duties as assigned

Skills and Training

• Marine technician certification is a plus
• Understanding of HIGH standards of technicalities and analytics
• Accurate in diagnostics and repairs
• Able to communicate with customers in a professional manner
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Valid Driver’s License
