Marine Construction Health & Safety Field Officer

Position Overview

WSP is seeking a field-based Health & Safety Officer to oversee day-to-day health and safety during marine construction projects in BC, reporting to the Construction Manager. The role involves working as part of the WSP field team, with an anticipated start in June 2025 until February 2026, with potential for extension. This position operates on a rotation basis, two weeks on and two weeks off, at a remote project site near Squamish, BC. Travel to the site is paid by WSP.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with HSE legislation, standards, and client requirements
• Work in the field on a rotation basis, including day and night shifts, with travel by boat
• Promote safety culture, conduct site inspections, and enforce safety protocols
• Participate in safety meetings, incident investigations, and reporting
• Coordinate with multiple stakeholders on site safety activities

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of marine construction safety experience
• Valid First Aid certificate and BC CSA SiteReadyBC training or ability to obtain
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Valid driver’s license and ability to climb marine vessels and structures

Compensation

Salary range in BC: $74,600 to $102,600. Actual salary may vary based on experience, qualifications, and organizational needs.
