Job description

We are seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer to join our team, supporting the design, programming, and commissioning of advanced HVAC-R control systems for large marine vessels. Based in Brossard, QC you’ll play a key role in delivering cutting-edge automation solutions for international shipbuilding projects.

What You’ll Do:
  • Design and develop electrical control systems for marine HVAC applications

  • Create and maintain AutoCAD Electrical drawings and wiring diagrams

  • Program and configure PLCs and HMIs (Siemens TIA Portal, Logo Controller, Beijer)

  • Perform system testing, software downloads, start-ups, and commissioning

  • Troubleshoot HVAC control systems during Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and on-site

  • Commission sensors and system inputs; calibrate transmitters and other devices

  • Interpret control philosophy documents to develop sequence logic

  • Collaborate with field engineers and shipyard teams globally

  • Contribute to project planning by estimating design and programming timelines

What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or equivalent

  • 5+ years of experience in automation or controls engineering

  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical for control panel design

  • Skilled in PLC/HMI programming (especially Siemens and Beijer platforms)

  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and system-level problem-solving

  • Autonomous, hands-on, and solutions-focused mindset

  • Bilingual in English and French (verbal and written)

  • Willingness to travel up to 15% for on-site support and commissioning
