Qualifications

Summary

Responsible for efficiently fitting, tacking, welding, rolling, forming, and assembling metal components in accordance with Welding Tier 4 standards.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

1. Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures. Must be able to interpret all TIGG production drawings including weld symbols and joint configurations.
2. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
3. Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements).
4. Run all fabrication equipment to build a vessel from the roll (roller, fitting, submerge arc, hydro) through final fabrication for assembly.
5. Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
6. Align components using calipers, rulers etc., and clamp pieces.
7. Work as a cross functional team member by checking layout and welding work of other team members to ensure accuracy.
8. Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical or horizontal).
9. Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
10. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
11. Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
12. Proper use of forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling devices as required.
13. Other duties as assigned.

Other Duties And Responsibilities

1. Immediately notify supervisor of malfunctioning or inoperable equipment.
2. Participate in meetings as required.
3. Exhibit a positive and professional attitude and a strong commitment to a safe and clean work area.
4. Meet quality and fabrication deadlines for vessels, piping, and other components.
5. Operate with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks independently.
6. Perform duties safely and promote safety among others, reporting concerns, near-misses, and incidents.
7. Adhere to company processes as detailed in Newterra’s online systems.
8. Complete all required training applicable to the position.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. ASW welding certificate preferred.
3. ASME and radiograph certification for vessels required.
4. Minimum 3 years of welding experience, preferably in manufacturing or water utilities.
5. Completion of a relevant apprenticeship program.
6. Strong knowledge of equipment and build of ASME code vessels.
7. Experience with various welding techniques (TIG, FCAW, SAW, SMAW, MMA).
8. Ability to pass internal welding tests.
9. Over 2 years of ASME experience and ability to follow ASME code procedures.
10. Ability to pass radiograph tests.
11. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
12. Knowledge in fabricating non-code components within build parameters.
13. Experience building vessels and related components.
14. Positive attitude and strong safety commitment.
15. Experience with electrical/manual tools.
16. Commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Manufacturing setting with exposure to noise, hazardous equipment, heat, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures. Follow safety standards at all times.
