Summary
Responsible for efficiently fitting, tacking, welding, rolling, forming, and assembling metal components in accordance with Welding Tier 4 standards.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures. Must be able to interpret all TIGG production drawings including weld symbols and joint configurations.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements).
- Run all fabrication equipment to build a vessel from the roll (roller, fitting, submerge arc, hydro) through final fabrication for assembly.
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
- Align components using calipers, rulers etc., and clamp pieces.
- Work as a cross functional team member by checking layout and welding work of other team members to ensure accuracy.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical or horizontal).
- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
- Proper use of forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling devices as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Other Duties And Responsibilities
- Immediately notify supervisor of malfunctioning or inoperable equipment.
- Participate in meetings as required.
- Exhibit a positive and professional attitude and a strong commitment to a safe and clean work area.
- Meet quality and fabrication deadlines for vessels, piping, and other components.
- Operate with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks independently.
- Perform duties safely and promote safety among others, reporting concerns, near-misses, and incidents.
- Adhere to company processes as detailed in Newterra’s online systems.
- Complete all required training applicable to the position.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- ASW welding certificate preferred.
- ASME and radiograph certification for vessels required.
- Minimum 3 years of welding experience, preferably in manufacturing or water utilities.
- Completion of a relevant apprenticeship program.
- Strong knowledge of equipment and build of ASME code vessels.
- Experience with various welding techniques (TIG, FCAW, SAW, SMAW, MMA).
- Ability to pass internal welding tests.
- Over 2 years of ASME experience and ability to follow ASME code procedures.
- Ability to pass radiograph tests.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge in fabricating non-code components within build parameters.
- Experience building vessels and related components.
- Positive attitude and strong safety commitment.
- Experience with electrical/manual tools.

Work Environment
Manufacturing setting with exposure to noise, hazardous equipment, heat, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures. Follow safety standards at all times.
