Job description

On behalf of our Utilities Client, Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting for a Manufacturing Test Engineer to join our Client's team on a Full-time Permanent basis. This role is Primarily Onsite and the Client is based in Burnaby, BC.

Summary of the Role:
The Manufacturing Test Engineer will play a critical role in supporting volume manufacturing at contract manufacturer sites. Responsibilities include developing test strategies, troubleshooting technical issues, coordinating vendor activities, and ensuring the smooth introduction of new products. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in electronics manufacturing, test system development, and documentation processes.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the development and implementation of manufacturing test strategies and systems.
  2. Support production at contract manufacturer sites, resolving technical and process-related issues.
  3. Develop and maintain test software, hardware, and documentation.
  4. Coordinate engineering changes, quality audits, and vendor-related activities.
  5. Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  6. Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting related to production testing.
  7. Facilitate new product introductions and ensure smooth transition into mass production.
Core Requirements:
  1. Diploma or B.A.Sc. in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering.
  2. 5+ years of experience in electronics or similar manufacturing engineering roles.
  3. Hands-on experience in front-line electronics manufacturing engineering.
  4. Proficiency in C, C++, C#, LabView, TestStand, or Python.
  5. Ability to read schematics and interpret Bill of Materials.
  6. Experience with Microsoft Office, OS installations, PC hardware setup, and Linux configuration.
Desired Skills & Experience:
  1. Registered or eligible to register as an EIT with EGBC.
  2. Experience with data collection, yield/failure analysis, and statistical process control.
  3. Exposure to both board-level and box-level testing.
  4. Background in mentoring junior staff and coordinating team activities.
  5. Familiarity with networking/security in Linux environments.

Terms:
This is a Full-time Permanent role based in Burnaby, BC, with an expectation to work onsite. Occasional travel (twice per year) to manufacturing hubs in Southeast Asia is required, each trip lasting approximately two weeks. Successful candidates will need to complete a background check and provide three professional references at the offer stage.
