Job summary

Verathon is seeking a Manufacturing Technologist for the swing shift (Mon–Fri, 3:30pm–12:00am) in Burnaby. You will troubleshoot hardware and systems for sustaining devices, drive process improvements, and support new product introductions while collaborating across production, QA, and engineering teams.

You will perform IQ/OQ/PQ, update procedures, and help reduce defects, scrap, and cycle times. Relevant ASTTBC eligibility and a Technologist Diploma are required.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical design procedures and testing.
  • Ability to perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Experience with FMEA and reading procedures/drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Swing shift hours: Mon–Fri 3:30pm–12:00am.
  • Manage manufacturing processes and improvements in an Electro-Mechanical factory.
  • Collaborate with production, product development and quality teams to resolve issues.
  • Verify and validate equipment, processes, and designs; update work instructions and documentation.
  • Maintain production tooling, dies, and test equipment.
  • Investigate rejects and failures; report design and process issues.
  • Support CAPA activities and preventive maintenance.
  • Contribute to quality management and regulatory compliance.

Overview

The swing shift Manufacturing Technologist is responsible for troubleshooting hardware & system issues in support of our sustaining medical devices and products as well as supporting new product introduction. The Manufacturing Technologist is expected to work cross functionally to reduce defects, scrap, cycle time, and increase yields. This position is on the swing shift Monday through Friday 3:30pm to 12:00am.

The Manufacturing Technologist works closely with the Manufacturing Engineering Team and is responsible for providing technical support to the Production, Quality Assurance and Product Development Engineering teams. This position requires close communication and coordinated activities between all three departments, providing feedback to improve the product design and manufacturing processes to reduce quality defects and costs.

Responsibilities
  • Working hours are swing shift Monday through Friday 3:30pm to 12:00am
  • Manage manufacturing processes and improvements in an Electro-Mechanical factory
  • Work effectively with production team, product development engineering team and quality team to provide support and resolve process and technical issues
  • Execute verification and validation (IQ, OQ, PQ, FMEA), of product equipment, processes, designs review and update work instructions, ATP's, travelers and other internal documentation
  • Maintain automated or semi-automated processes
  • Maintain production tooling, jigs, dies and test equipment
  • Track, document, investigate and analyze rejects and failures in production or customer returns and report design and process issues
  • Participate in product Failure Investigations and other CAPA related activities
  • Preventative Maintenance of production equipment
  • Ensure consistent professional communications with all VMCA team members
  • Support VMCA's Quality Management System that establishes and maintains effective quality assurance processes and compliance to the International Standards: ISO13485, Canadian Medical Device Regulations (CMDR, SOR 98-292), FDA Quality System Regulations (QSR, 21 CFR Part 820) and the Medical Device Directive (MDD93/42/EEC).
Qualifications
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical design procedures and testing methodologies
  • Analytical approach to problem solving
  • Experience and aptitude in Design of Experiments, ability to find root cause and correct problems effectively
  • The ability to read and interpret procedures and drawings
  • Strong technical, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well in cross-functional teams
  • The ability to be dynamic and creative in identifying issues, their resolutions and implementing resolutions
  • The ability to remain open to new ideas and to maintain a positive attitude with a focus on quality
  • Technologist Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Technology
  • Eligible for Registration with ASTTBC
  • 0-3 years' experience
