Job summary

Cosma International, part of Magna, seeks a production technician to monitor welds, support assembly lines and uphold safety, quality, and production guidelines. The role requires flexibility to work across locations within the plant and surrounding sites.

You will log weld data, respond to quality issues using ANDON, and coordinate with Press Shop, Rework, and Material Handling to ensure a steady supply of defective parts for teardown, while maintaining lean manufacturing and 5S practices.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work in multiple locations within and outside the plant.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and weekend overtime.
• Ability to lift up to 20 kgs and perform repetitive lifting.

• Maintain safety standards and keep area clean.

Job Responsibilities:

• This position will work closely with the Supervisor in monitoring and documenting all conditions pertaining to welds. They will fill in on production lines as required and will adhere to all Safety, Quality and Production guidelines.

Salary: $30.24/hr

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 Diploma or GED

• Must be able to work in various locations within and outside the manufacturing plant.

• Must be able to work rotating shifts & weekend overtime to meet customer requirements.

• Must be able to lift up to 20 kgs

• Must be able to perform frequent and repetitive lifting and physical motions throughout the required work cycle

Job Specific Responsibilities

• Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Karmax.

• Perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments.

• Teardown assembled parts and monitor weld quality on all production.

• Record statistical data from teardown and ensure it corresponds to specifications.

• Notify Supervisor and/or Weld Technician of any welds not meeting specifications.

• Organize the use of available defective parts for weld test.

• Communicate with Press Shop, Rework, and Material Handling, to maintain a good supply of useable defective parts for teardown.

• Mark or paint defective parts for teardown to ensure defective parts do not reach customers.

• When filling in for production technician, utilizes ANDON when encountering a quality issue or problem that hinders the completion of standardized work during cycle time.

• Respond to ANDON calls in a timely manner to address and diagnose issues. Coordinate containment of any suspect parts.

• Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Karmax.

• General maintenance such as keeping area clean and filing.

• Adhere to company values, policies, and quality / environmental management system requirements.

• Performs other duties as required.

General Responsibilities
