Job summary

INNIO Group in Welland, Ontario is seeking a Paint Technician to join the assembly operations team. You will own critical paint requirements for engine production, including washing, masking, detailing, and scheduled maintenance of paint tools and systems.

You will inspect and document non-conformities, operate paint booths, manage the 2KS painting system, and ensure proper inventory of paints, solvents and catalysts while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and/or paint experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience operating electrostatic paint guns and calibrating gauges.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement and solve problems.
  • Team player and accountable for outcomes.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

  • Paint engines and parts per engineering specs for shipment.
  • Document non-conformities and support root-cause analysis.
  • Perform basic assembly repairs when needed.
  • Operate paint wash booths and maintain safe temperatures.
  • Control electrostatic gun and clean/adjust fluids.
  • Track gun parts and other materials in stock.
  • Troubleshoot the 2KS system and paint delivery.

Position Summary

Paint Technician will act as a key member of the assembly operations unit when taking ownership of critical paint requirements in engine production. This involves preparing engines throughout all stages of the paint process, inclusive of washing, masking & final detailing. You will also manage scheduled routine maintenance of paint tools, systems & applicable equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Painting all engine types and parts per engineering specifications to prepare for customer shipment
  • Completing required paint inspection reports and documenting all non-conformities to support root cause analysis when improving assembly processes
  • Performing basic assembly related repairs when non-conformances are found during final inspection review
  • Operating the start-up and shutdown processes of the paint wash booths and ensuring the required booth temperatures and safety resets are functioning
  • Accurately controlling electrostatic paint gun during paint process, following proper cleaning procedure and adjustment of gun fluid
  • Tracking inventory of gun parts, consumables and other materials used in the area
  • Managing the 2KS system to correctly introduce paint throughout the lines and performing necessary troubleshooting when needed
  • Following work instructions to successfully identify parts of the engine to be masked before paint
  • Detailing engines by hand painting all raised lettering, performing paint touch-ups, and applying grease to necessary exposed parts on the engine
  • Managing proper function of the paint kitchen by identifying correct motor pressures and ensuring adequate inventory levels of paints, solvents & catalyst
  • Conducting all scheduled preventative maintenance on all paint and wash systems to ensure optimal operation and alignment with manufacturer specifications
Qualifications / Requirements
  • High school diploma and/or minimum 1-year relevant paint experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of required tools & equipment, such as the operation of electrostatic paint guns and ability to calibrate both gauges and measuring equipment
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and demonstrate problem solving skills
  • Team player who is accountable for teams’ success, when meeting business objectives and taking responsibility for decisions and outcomes
  • Ability to adapt and be successful handling multiple tasks
  • High attention to detail in achieving thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks
  • Must be able to conduct work at heights
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours/shifts
  • Able to meet physical and cognitive demands assessment, inclusive of lifting a minimum weight of 40lbs
