Job description

About The Role

As a Manufacturing Technician at Draganfly you will be responsible for the assembly and testing of both mechanical and electrical systems for Draganfly products. Your primary focus will be the manufacture of production drones and related hardware, working both independently and as part of a team to integrate electronics, build wiring harnesses, follow and refine build documentation, and ensure quality standards are met. You will also collaborate with the engineering team to validate prototype designs, perform troubleshooting, and implement design revisions. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude as well as basic electronics assembly skills.

This is an on-site position.

The salary range for this position is $57,000 - $61,000/year

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical and electronic components in a consistent, organized manner
  • Solder and install wiring harnesses and printed circuit boards
  • Fabricate and modify mechanical components using hand and power tools
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workshop environment
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols in all workshop activities
  • Provide occasional on-site technical support at field events or demonstrations
  • Assist engineering team members with various technical tasks as needed

Qualifications & Skills

  • Fundamental knowledge of the principles underlying DC electronics
  • Solid understanding of mechanical assembly techniques used in drone construction, including the use of threaded fasteners, adhesives, and composite materials
  • Confident technical communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately follow technical build plans, schematics, and documentation
  • Skilled in the safe and effective use of common hand and power tools

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods, including during field testing and flight operations
  • To properly use PPE required for respiratory protection, Manufacturing Technicians are required to have a clean-shaven face

Other Nice-to-Haves

  • Certification such as Transport Canada Basic/Advanced Drone Pilot, ROC-A, FAA Part 107, or equivalent
  • Experience using RPAS-related software platforms such as ArduPilot, BetaFlight, INAV, or QGroundControl
  • Familiarity with 3D printing (FDM/SLA), CNC machinery, hardware communication protocols, and radio control systems
  • Any additional experience building, piloting, or otherwise working with drones or other aircraft
