Who You Are

As a Manufacturing Team Member (Tool Crib Lead), you are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the tool crib area, ensuring the availability of the tools, materials, equipment, and supplies required to support efficient manufacturing operations. You are accountable for managing tool crib inventory, maintaining accurate inventory and tool usage records, coordinating tooling repairs and replenishment as needed, and supporting continuous improvement of tool crib processes. Working under the direction of the Production Supervisor, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production requirements while ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, and company standards.

What You’ll Do:
  • Manage the daily operation and organization of the tool crib.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Issue, receive, inspect, and track tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate tool repairs, calibration, and replacement.
  • Monitor inventory levels and initiate replenishment requests.
  • Develop and maintain tool crib procedures and standard work instructions.
  • Maintain accurate records within the inventory management system.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tool crib organization, inventory control, and operational efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support production.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and report any discrepancies to the Production Supervisor.
  • Facilitate reordering of tools and supplies to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Inspect tools and equipment upon return for wear, damage, or other issues.
  • Ensure tools meet safety and quality standards before distribution.
  • Follow all safety protocols when handling tools and equipment.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or damaged tools to the Production Supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized tool crib area to prevent hazards and improve efficiency.
  • Keep detailed logs of tool check-outs, returns, and repairs using inventory management software.
  • Prepare and submit reports on tool usage and inventory levels as requested by the supervisor.
  • Communicate with the Production Supervisor and production teams to anticipate tool requirements.
  • Assist with training new employees on the proper procedures for tool handling and inventory management.
What You Bring:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
  • Experience with tools, equipment, materials, and inventory processes commonly used in manufacturing.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tool crib activities, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of tool functions, applications, and maintenance requirements.
  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with team members and other departments.
  • Ability to take ownership of the tool crib area and ensure tools, materials, and equipment are available to support production needs.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on inventory accuracy, documentation, and process compliance.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and following established protocols.
  • Strong computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Problem solver with the ability to think analytically and outside the box.People oriented with an ability to establish a high degree of credibility with staff and vendors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • An energetic self-starter with a willingness to keep learning.
  • Professionalism, able to maintain a positive attitude and composure during stressful situations.
