Manufacturing Sales Representative – OEM Manufacturer HVAC/Plumbing

Lower Mainland, BC

Cameron Lappin of Lock Search Group has partnered with an industry leader in the mechanical manufacturing market to recruit an experienced Manufacturing Sales Business Development Manager (BDM) for the BC region. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the Plumbing, Hydronics, and/or HVAC-R industry, with proven experience working, targeting, and selling to mechanical contractors (Commercial/Residential), and partnering with Wholesale Distributors to support their pull-through selling model.

The primary focus of the BDM is to develop and maintain consultative relationships by promoting, representing, and selling technical equipment and solutions to both new and existing accounts, which include mechanical contractors and wholesale distributors. Responsibilities include identifying and nurturing prospective customers, ensuring high post-sale satisfaction, and fostering long-term business relationships. The role is also responsible for creating and executing territory and account plans on an annual, quarterly, and monthly basis to support sales growth and repeat business.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop strategies and tactics for growth in the territory among builders, Mechanical and HVAC Contractors, and Wholesale Distributors.
  • Maintain maximum margins by managing customer incentives effectively.
  • Participate in local, regional, and national Trade Shows.
  • Track local market conditions such as housing starts, new developments, and code issues.
  • Coordinate and support field training programs for distributors, contractors, builders, architects, and engineers on all products and technology.
  • Respond promptly to product and marketing information requests.
  • Manage RMA issues within the territory, taking ownership through to resolution.
  • Build and maintain a strong company presence and brand awareness in the sales territory.
  • Provide guidance to management on political, technical, or product issues.
  • Contribute proactively to team initiatives for business success.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of technical consultative sales experience, preferably in HVAC, Plumbing/Mechanical, or Hydronics.
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical products and mechanical aptitude.
  • Post-secondary education (Degree or 2-year diploma) preferred but not required if industry experience is sufficient.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Proven ability to prospect and manage a key account book within a territory.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
  • Ability to travel overnight (quarterly to the Okanagan/Northern BC region).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to attend trade shows and support demand and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
