Maybe it was an elegant glass lift or a minimalist stainless-steel rocket.

It might have shaped your first impression or left a lasting memory of a building.

Chances are, the details made the difference; with an aesthetic interior and stylish, well-built buttons and fixtures. Immersive digital technology like visual displays may have turned a simple ride into a memorable experience as well. You may not have noticed these details then, but once you’ve worked with us, you’ll start noticing them everywhere you go.

Company Overview:

We have a vision – to have a MAD product in every elevator. Headquartered in Mississauga Canada, our 80,000 sq. foot facility focuses on the efficient production of industry-leading fixtures, high quality elevator car interiors, and cutting-edge digital products.

Our New Manufacturing Reliability Specialist:

The ideal candidate would be someone who….

  • Is hands-on and mechanically inclined
  • Is comfortable working directly with production equipment and employees on the shop floor
  • Can independently diagnose equipment issues, determine when outside technical support is required, and use maintenance data to prevent recurring failures and improve equipment performance
  • Is a strong troubleshooting and root-cause problem-solver
  • Is adaptable with a continuous improvement mindset

The Manufacturing Reliability Specialist maximizes equipment reliability, availability, and performance across company facilities. Combining manufacturing engineering with hands-on maintenance, this role reduces unplanned downtime, prevents recurring failures, extends equipment life, and improves operational performance. The role owns equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance planning, and reliability improvements, working with Production and other departments to address equipment issues and minimize disruption. A key responsibility is to implement and maintain a digital maintenance tracking system.

What you will do in the role:

Equipment Troubleshooting and Maintenance Response
  • Act as the primary contact for equipment and maintenance issues. Diagnose and repair breakdowns internally wherever safe and technically appropriate, using systematic troubleshooting before engaging external support.
  • Assess the need for specialist or OEM assistance based on technical complexity, tools, safety, warranty requirements, and operational risk. Coordinate service providers for timely recovery and cost control.
  • Document breakdowns, diagnostic steps, repairs, parts used, and corrective actions to maintain accurate equipment histories.
Preventative Maintenance and Equipment Reliability
  • Develop and improve preventive maintenance programs for production equipment and relevant facility assets. Set schedules, inspection standards, operator checklists, and service intervals using equipment needs and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Monitor equipment condition and maintenance compliance. Support predictive maintenance where appropriate and operator-led maintenance through TPM.
Reliability Engineering and Root Cause Analysis
  • Lead root cause analysis of major breakdowns and recurring failures. Identify failure mechanisms and implement permanent corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze downtime, failure frequency, availability, and maintenance costs to identify priorities. Recommend equipment modifications and upgrades to improve reliability, maintainability, and asset life.
  • Develop contingency plans for critical equipment failures and support business continuity planning.
Maintenance Systems and Asset Management
  • Implement and maintain a CMMS or equivalent digital system. Keep equipment registers, work orders, maintenance histories, service records, troubleshooting guides, and critical spare parts information current.
  • Track equipment availability, unplanned downtime, preventive maintenance compliance, mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), and maintenance costs.
  • Coordinate spare parts planning, servicing, and maintenance expenditures. Establish consistent procedures, documentation, and reliability practices across the two facilities.
Manufacturing Engineering and Continuous Improvement
  • Evaluate processes and equipment to improve productivity, capacity, quality, and efficiency. Address equipment bottlenecks, production losses, and operational waste.
  • Lead or support equipment installation, commissioning, modifications, upgrades, and process improvement projects. Use reliability and production data to prioritize projects and quantify their operational and financial impact.
  • Plan maintenance with Production and other departments, adapting priorities to equipment criticality and production needs.
Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs follow applicable health, safety, environmental, and equipment requirements. Maintain machine-specific Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and support equipment safety assessments.
  • Recognize tasks requiring specialist expertise or escalation and work within personal training and technical qualifications.
Working Conditions
  • Respond to critical equipment breakdowns and operational disruptions outside regular working hours as required.
  • Travel between company facilities up to 10% of the time for troubleshooting, equipment assessments, maintenance support, and reliability improvements.
  • Able to lift up to 15lbs; may work in hot areas 5%, noise 0%.
Other
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Participate actively in Health & Safety programs, 5S activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Measures of Success:

  • Equipment performance: At least 98% uptime, at least 20% less unplanned downtime, and elimination of repeat failures through root cause analysis.
  • Internal resolution: At least 80% of issues resolved internally where safe and technically appropriate.
  • Maintenance compliance: At least 95% on-time preventive and TPM maintenance, 100% critical service compliance, and consistent standards across facilities.
  • Systems and records: CMMS implemented, 100% equipment tracking, and 99% data accuracy for records, spare parts, and cost control.
  • Financial and productivity results: Measurable productivity gains, improved equipment lifecycle performance, and at least $30,000 in annual cost savings.

What you bring to the role:

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or a related engineering or technical discipline preferred
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial maintenance, equipment reliability, or a related role
  • Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment. Experience with CNC fabrication machinery, fiber lasers, press brakes, routers, or similar equipment is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and reliability improvement practices
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or maintenance tracking tools, and data analysis using Microsoft Excel or similar software
  • Ability to interpret equipment manuals, technical documentation, and service specifications, with sound judgment on internal repairs and specialist support.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, communication, and collaboration skills, with a commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Able to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record required
  • Clear Background Checks – Criminal required
