Qualifications

We are seeking a full time Plant Engineer to join our team!

Thie Plant Engineer oversees the physical condition of the facility (including buildings, utilities, and equipment), coordinating facilities projects, ensuring a clean and safe workplace, and ensuring compliance with state and local regulations.

Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Hires, supervises, and disciplines the hourly personnel assigned to the direction of the Plant Engineer.
  • Coordinates and manages facilities projects such as new construction, renovations, repairs, new equipment installation, etc.
  • Proposes and works on projects that help ensure that the facilities are running in the most efficient, cost-effective, and safest manner possible while maximizing the use of available space.
  • Provides input and assists with compilation of annual Capital Expenditure projects and executes the approved Capital Expenditure Plan.
  • Coordinates emergency repairs on the facility.
  • Interfaces with representatives from OSHA, the EPA, and local and state government agencies, as required.
  • Ensures compliance with EPA regulations, OSHA regulations, and building codes, while maintaining the proper documentation.
  • Coordinates and oversees contractors performing work on facilities.
  • Generates purchase requisitions for Maintenance supplies, contractor work and new equipment.
  • Reviews proposals, drawings, and specification documents for accuracy prior to awarding a purchase order to a contractor.
  • Compiles estimated costs of prospective facilities projects.
  • Generates facilities project schedules and monitors schedule performance.
  • Prepares technical reports for use by management to make decisions related to facilities.
  • Provides regular updates on major facilities projects to upper management.
  • Obtains permits for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Negotiates contracts with contractors and service providers.
  • Facilitates and approves site layouts/floorplans as required.
  • Reviews utility bills for accuracy.
  • Tracks preventative and repair maintenance on all equipment within the ERP Maintenance Module (Epicor).
  • Maintains the Asset List for the facility.
  • Organizes and catalog Maintenance Spare Parts inventory.
  • Coordinates with the Facility Security Officer to address security and surveillance issues.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Skills

Education: B.S. in Industrial Engineering, or equivalent work experience

Experience: Five (5) years of heavy industrial manufacturing experience required.

Other Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical (480v experience), and HVAC systems. Experience with DC controls for older equipment and VFD applications for AC components. Ability to provide diagnosis of CNC machine tool problems and manage CNC repairs. Knowledge of plumbing, construction, environmental regulations, and industrial safety are strongly desired.
  • Experience with boiler operations is desired. A Boiler Operator Black Seal license will be required.
  • Background in vehicle maintenance with emphasis on forklifts.
  • Must be a US at time of hire.

Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills are required. Must have a working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
