Position Summary

The Manufacturing Planner / Scheduler performs planning and scheduling functions by carefully selecting appropriate trade-offs between customer requests and production capacity and capability. This role reviews schedules to determine materials and parts requirements to ensure materials are available according to schedules and coordinates the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, production and engineering.

Duties Include (but Are Not Limited To)
  • Create a plan that makes best use of Production resources and available materials to meet customer needs
  • Work with key stakeholders – Sales Operations & Production Manager, Material Buyers, Inventory Control Analyst, Warehouse department and Production to resolve material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions to ensure the overall schedule meets the corporate goals
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve systems, methods, procedures and efficiency
  • Analyze product demand requirements received from Sales Operations & Production Manager
  • Determine Product mix to meet sales forecast and build authorization
  • Inform Sales Operations & Production Manager of delivery schedules for order requirements
  • Keep key stakeholders informed of order issues related to delivery schedules
  • Review Manufacturing Orders (MOs) completion weekly to ensure the authorized builds are being met
  • React to daily deviations and requirements accordingly
  • Continuously work with the Inventory Control Analyst to avoid and ensure no interruption to orders delivery schedule
  • Manage forecast / builds to capacity
  • Work closely with Production Manager on capacity concerns affecting ship dates
  • Conduct weekly shortage meetings as needed to ensure part issues are addressed
  • Continuously review ‘Quantity Build Authorization’ to ensure accuracy is maintained
  • Interface with Material Planning & Manufacturing Engineering Support if Build of Materials (BOM) needs adjustment
  • Keep abreast of all issues pertaining to liable product families
  • Stay informed on product families not liable for to cover for other Scheduler as needed
  • Maintain scheduling procedures
  • Adhere to Vecima policies and procedures
Position Requirements
  • Typically requires a minimum of 4 years’ experience in manufacturing planning and scheduling
  • APICS certification preferred
  • Intermediate Computer skills including Outlook, Great Plains (GP), Excel, Word
  • Mathematical ability
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to make decisions
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure with deadlines
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with team members, other departments and management
  • Adapt to change, uncertainty and difficult circumstances with positive attitude
  • Must work well as part of a team
