Job summary

L3Harris WESCAM in Toronto is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op and requires enrollment in a 3rd year Mechanical or Mechatronics program. You will support manufacturing engineering with troubleshooting, documentation, and process improvements for MES-enabled assembly lines.

Responsibilities include creating procedures, participating in standups, developing dashboards in SharePoint and PowerBI, and designing jigs for new processes.

Qualifications

• Able to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Experience using SolidWorks, Composer and AutoCAD an asset.
• Programming using C#, Matlab, LabVIEW and/or WPF an asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a pressured and highly dynamic environment.
• Organized, efficient, and able to multi-task to meet tight deadlines.
• Punctual, reliable, and follows up on action items.
• Works well as part of a team
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications
• Familiarity with SolidWorks, or other 3D CAD systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Apps and SharePoint an asset

Responsibilities

• All tasks are performed under the direction of Manufacturing Engineering staff.
• Support Manufacturing Engineering in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical, electro-mechanical and electro optical manufacturing issues.
• Create and maintain documentation to support manufacturing changes, including assembly procedures, Work Instructions and MES authoring.
• Attend and provide responses to daily cell standup meetings.
• Maintain and improve manufacturing processes and procedures for WESCAM products, including control plans, tooling and test procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
• Develop and maintain preventative maintenance documentation for manufacturing, assembly and/or testing equipment.
• Design of jigs and fixtures for new processes.
• Operate and maintain 3D printing systems.
• Track project actions and status.
• Time studies
• Attend project meetings and record action items.
• Develop dashboards and data visualizations using SharePoint and PowerBI
• Management of small-scale projects.
