Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for driving continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, supporting daily operations, developing new manufacturing methods, and leading initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency within the Machine Shop.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day manufacturing process issues in Assembly and Machining
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality Assurance to ensure components meet design specifications
  • Design CNC tooling, fixturing, gauges, and testing equipment
  • Develop and optimize CNC programs for new and existing products
  • Implement new manufacturing processes to support product launches, quality improvement, cost reduction, and capacity expansion
  • Identify and propose capital equipment purchases; prepare Capital Purchase Requests
  • Create and maintain shop floor work instructions and assist in training new hourly employees
  • Support the Maintenance Department in resolving issues related to capital equipment
  • Participate in annual budget planning to identify and project cost-saving opportunities
  • Identify and introduce new technologies to improve manufacturing processes and reduce costs
  • Conduct time studies and develop labor standards
  • Create, implement, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Routers
  • Track departmental production metrics and assembly efficiencies on a weekly basis
  • Design and implement plant layout changes to optimize productivity
  • Investigate product complaints, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain a log of tooling and fixturing
  • Lead and participate in Kaizen and other continuous improvement events
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Skills:
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project) and CAD software (SolidWorks)
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years in a Manufacturing Engineering role
  • Hands-on experience in machining and mechanical assembly processes
  • Skilled in fixture and tooling design for both assembly and CNC applications
  • Experience programming CNC equipment with Fanuc and Okuma controls is a strong asset
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing principles, including direct involvement in lean implementation and Kaizen events
  • Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO 9001:2015 or equivalent

Salary: $75k+ (Based on experience)
