Job description

Position Summary

Manufacturing Engineer (ME) works closely with and supports the production team by providing technical support related to coach build processes. Builds include concept, prototype, pilot, first, and production stages. The ME assists with new system builds and prototype designs, prepares design change proposals, conducts accuracy audits, root cause analysis, and participates in continuous improvement initiatives.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Assist production with initial and subsequent builds of new or revised systems
  • Support production planning to ensure readiness for upcoming coaches
  • Provide routing and assembly sequence guidance for all components
  • Propose design changes or revisions to improve current designs
  • Identify and implement cost reduction projects
  • Conduct audits on bill of materials and routing accuracy, identifying root causes of discrepancies
  • Review tooling and fixture needs to enhance assembly processes
  • Research new manufacturing technologies and practices, and introduce improvements
  • Prepare necessary documentation (procedures, work instructions, visual aids) to ensure compliance with design and customer requirements
  • Participate in problem-solving meetings to review and improve processes
  • Engage in lean and Six Sigma initiatives such as 5S and value stream mapping

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Certified Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineer, or equivalent education/experience
  • 1-5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in transportation, automotive, or bus industry
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, LEAN, JIT methodologies
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking, understanding)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and documentation (blueprints)
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision, process-oriented
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows
  • Experience with AutoCAD or CAD/CAM is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with manufacturing experience
