Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost.
  • Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes, workflows, and production methods.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, SOPs, and process documentation.
  • Troubleshoot shop-floor issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and design teams to resolve issues.
  • Support equipment selection, specification, and implementation.
  • Assist with machining, sheet-metal fabrication, assembly, and related operations.
  • Improve production layouts, material flow, and workstation design.
  • Support NPI with manufacturability reviews and ramp-up.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities using Lean, 5S, and root-cause analysis.
  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and waste.
  • Assist with equipment commissioning, process validation, and trials.
  • Support quality investigations and corrective actions.

Position Summary

Five Seasons Comfort Limited is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Concord, Ontario.

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting manufacturing processes for air cleaning systems and related mechanical components. This is a hands-on, shop-floor-oriented engineering role requiring close collaboration with production, quality, engineering, and management teams.

The successful candidate will identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and manufacturing efficiency while supporting day-to-day production and new product development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, workflows, and production methods.
  • Create, update, and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures, process documentation, and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and equipment issues directly on the shop floor and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Work closely with production, quality, and design engineering teams to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
  • Support the selection, specification, and implementation of manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures, and production aids.
  • Assist with machining, sheet-metal fabrication, assembly, and other manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and improve production layouts, material flow, workstations, and manufacturing methods.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI), including manufacturability reviews, process development, tooling, documentation, and production ramp-up.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, 5S, root-cause analysis, and other process improvement methods.
  • Analyze production data and manufacturing performance to identify bottlenecks, waste, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with equipment commissioning, process validation, and production trials.
  • Support quality investigations, corrective actions, and root-cause analysis.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable safety requirements, engineering standards, and company procedures.
  • Work with suppliers and contractors when required to support equipment, tooling, fabrication, and manufacturing projects.
  • Provide technical support and training to production personnel when required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field; equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and manufacturing engineering principles.
  • Practical experience improving production efficiency, quality, workflow, and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of industrial engineering principles, including process optimization, production layout, material flow, capacity planning, and continuous improvement.
  • Mechanical engineering knowledge related to product design, component analysis, fabrication, and assembly of mechanical systems.
  • Hands-on familiarity with machining, sheet-metal fabrication, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
  • Experience creating and maintaining manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and troubleshoot problems directly on the production floor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with production and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is an asset.
  • Experience in HVAC, air filtration, sheet-metal fabrication, or related manufacturing industries is considered an advantage.

The ideal candidate can take an engineering problem from the production floor, determine the root cause, develop a practical solution, and work with the team to implement and validate the improvement.
